The actress, best known for her breakout performance as Isabel "Belly" Conklin in Amazon Prime Video's hit coming-of-age series The Summer I Turned Pretty, has officially joined the cast of Please. As with the other cast members, the specifics of Tung's character have not been disclosed, and the film's storyline is also being kept under wraps.
Tung joins an impressive ensemble that already includes singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, Tom Burke, Connor Storrie and David Jonsson.
Halina Reijn, whose recent films Babygirl and Bodies Bodies Bodies earned critical acclaim for their bold storytelling and distinct directorial style, will write and direct the project. She will also produce the film through her Man Up Film banner alongside longtime collaborator David Hinojosa, while A24 is producing and financing the feature. Zach Nutman serves as executive producer.
The casting marks another significant milestone in Tung's rapidly expanding career. She is currently filming the feature-length continuation of The Summer I Turned Pretty, which is expected to bring the beloved story to its long-awaited conclusion.
Beyond the popular series, Tung has been steadily building an impressive résumé on the big screen. She recently starred opposite Lili Reinhart in Forbidden Fruits, which premiered earlier this year, and also appeared in Josephine Decker's Sundance feature Chasing Summer.
Looking ahead, audiences will also see Tung in Neon’s The Young People, directed by Osgood Perkins and featuring Nicole Kidman and Nico Parker, further cementing her status as one of Hollywood's emerging young talents.
