Shawn Exchange has introduced ShawnX, a new cryptocurrency and digital payments application aimed at making digital financial services more accessible to Nigerians while supporting faster cross-border transactions across Africa.

The launch marks another step in the company's expansion strategy as demand for cryptocurrency, digital payments and alternative financial solutions continues to rise across the continent. Available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, the ShawnX app integrates cryptocurrency trading, digital payments and other everyday financial services into a single platform.

The development comes as Nigeria continues to rank among Africa's largest cryptocurrency markets, with individuals and businesses increasingly adopting digital assets for investments, remittances and payment transactions despite an evolving regulatory environment.

Designed to simplify users' financial experience, the ShawnX app enables customers to buy and sell cryptocurrencies using the naira, convert fiat currency into digital assets, exchange gift cards for cash, and purchase airtime and mobile data without switching between multiple applications.

Speaking at the official launch, the Chief Executive Officer of Shawn Exchange, Ajayi Oluwadamilare, said the platform was created to bridge the gap between traditional financial systems and digital assets while delivering secure, efficient and user-friendly financial services.

"Our vision is to create a seamless, secure and accessible platform that empowers individuals and businesses to move effortlessly between cryptocurrencies and the naira while enabling efficient cross-border payments."

Ajayi disclosed that the company is targeting more than 100,000 active users in Nigeria as the first phase of its growth strategy before extending its services into other African markets.

According to him, the long-term objective is to provide affordable, reliable and instant financial solutions that simplify transactions for businesses, entrepreneurs and families while facilitating seamless commerce across national borders.

He noted that the company's increased investment in digital financial services was driven by the rapid expansion of the global cryptocurrency industry and Nigeria's emergence as one of Africa's leading digital asset markets.

Industry analysts have also pointed to growing demand for faster and more affordable payment solutions as a major driver of innovation within Africa's fintech ecosystem. They believe platforms that integrate cryptocurrency with conventional financial services have the potential to improve financial inclusion, particularly for users seeking alternatives to traditional banking channels, provided operators comply with evolving regulations and maintain strong consumer protection standards.

Over the years, Shawn Exchange has strengthened its presence in Nigeria's fintech sector by focusing on transparent operations, prompt transaction processing and customer-centred service delivery.

The company's efforts earned it recognition in 2022 when it received the Africa's Most Trusted and Reliable Financial Trading Brand of the Year award from African Brands.

Ajayi also reflected on his entrepreneurial journey, saying his experiences before founding Shawn Exchange shaped the company's customer-first philosophy. He added that studying successful entrepreneurs and business leaders influenced many of the strategies that have guided the company's growth.

As Africa's digital economy continues to expand, Shawn Exchange believes the ShawnX application will strengthen its position within the continent's fintech industry by offering users a unified platform for cryptocurrency trading, digital payments and other essential financial services.

With a strong emphasis on innovation, financial inclusion and cross-border commerce, the company says it remains committed to driving wider adoption of digital assets while providing secure, convenient and accessible financial solutions for individuals and businesses across Africa.
