The 16-year-old announced the award in a Facebook post on Wednesday, expressing heartfelt appreciation to members of Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, United States, whose generosity made the scholarship possible. She also thanked her family, friends and numerous well-wishers who joined in celebrating her remarkable achievement.
Describing the event as both memorable and emotional, Owoeye said she was deeply touched by the overwhelming show of love and support she received.
“It was truly a memorable and heartwarming moment to be celebrated and surrounded by the love of family, friends, and well-wishers. My heart is filled with profound gratitude.”
She reserved special appreciation for the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, USA, commending the association for its generosity, encouragement and hospitality.
“I sincerely appreciate the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, USA, for their exceptional care, generosity, and immeasurable love. Your kindness, support, and warm hospitality made the occasion even more special, and I do not take any of it for granted.”
Owoeye also acknowledged the support of traditional rulers, community leaders, her parents and everyone who attended the celebration in her honour.

Owoeye, an indigene of Erinmope-Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, emerged as the overall best candidate in the 2026 UTME after scoring an impressive aggregate of 372 out of 400. Although she is from Ekiti State, she sat the examination in Ogun State.
Her exceptional performance included 98 in English Language, 98 in Chemistry, 94 in Physics and 82 in Biology, placing her at the top of the national ranking released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The teenager is seeking admission to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lagos, where she hopes to pursue a career in the medical profession.
Speaking earlier after the announcement of the UTME results, Owoeye attributed her outstanding success to disciplined preparation, consistency and strategic studying rather than spending excessively long hours with her books.
According to her, she maximised available learning resources by practising with past questions, using computer-based test (CBT) applications, watching online tutorials and participating in study groups, while deliberately working to improve areas where she initially struggled.
