The Lone Star was scheduled to face Minnesota United II on July 26 in a match intended to form part of Liberia's Independence Day celebrations. However, the fixture is now in serious doubt following the visa refusals, with reports indicating that it is likely to be canceled.
The Liberia Football Association (LFA) had initially submitted a list of 25 delegates for visa processing before reducing the delegation to 10 applicants.
According to the LFA, six of the 10 individuals who appeared for visa interviews at the U.S. Embassy on Tuesday had their applications denied, significantly affecting the team's travel plans.
LFA First Vice President Sekou Konneh was the only official confirmed to have successfully obtained a U.S. visa.
The football association has acknowledged the visa denials, although it has not provided further details on the reasons behind the decisions. Meanwhile, The Liberian Investigator reports that the friendly match is now expected to be called off due to the travel complications.
The U.S. Embassy has not publicly commented on the visa decisions or the reported cancellation of the match.
