Vin Diesel has offered fans an early glimpse into the making of “Fast Forever,” the eleventh and final instalment in the long-running Fast & Furious series, sharing a behind-the-scenes update from set via Instagram on Thursday.
The actor, who has become the face of the global action franchise, described an active production environment while expressing gratitude to fans for their long-standing support as the saga approaches its conclusion.
“I’m on set. People are grinding. Incredible crews are working,” Diesel said. “I just wanted to take a second to say thank you. You guys are the best audience in the world, best fans in the world. You’ve been patient to the industry, you’ve been patient to the studio and you’ve been patient with me. Over the past three and a half years, we’ve been grinding to try to make the most amazing finale.”
The film, officially titled “Fast Forever,” is scheduled for theatrical release on March 17, 2028, and is being positioned as the concluding chapter of the main storyline that began with The Fast and the Furious in 2001.
A Franchise Built on Global Box Office Dominance
Since its debut, the Fast & Furious has evolved into one of Hollywood’s most commercially successful action series, grossing over $7 billion worldwide. The franchise’s peak performance came with Furious 7, which earned approximately $1.5 billion globally, driven in part by emotional resonance and global audience expansion.
Diesel acknowledged the gap between major releases, noting that he has explored other creative projects while development on the finale continued.
“I’ve been lucky to embark on other characters,” he said, referencing upcoming work including a Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots film project he will both star in and write for under Mattel Studios.
Still, he emphasised his connection to the franchise’s fan base, adding: “But through it all, one thing I know is, I can feel your support, and that means the world to me. So, let me get back to this filming, and just know that I hope to make you all proud.”
Expansion Beyond the Big Screen
While “Fast Forever” is being billed as the end of the core film saga, the broader Fast & Furious universe is set to continue expanding across television and streaming platforms.
Earlier this year, Universal confirmed plans for a new Fast & Furious television expansion on Peacock, announced during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation. Diesel revealed that multiple shows are in development, signalling a broader franchise strategy beyond cinema.
“For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more,” he said at the event. “They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories… Peacock is launching four shows from the ‘Fast and Furious’ universe.”
