Zeeoma has concluded the inaugural Lagos edition of The Open Door, selecting four outstanding Nigerian creative brands to access commercial opportunities through its curated marketplace in the United States while awarding a total of ₦7 million in business funding.

The initiative is designed to spotlight exceptional African creative businesses and connect them with global customers by creating pathways into the U.S. market. Through The Open Door, Zeeoma seeks to bridge the gap between talented African entrepreneurs and international commercial opportunities, enabling locally made products to gain wider recognition abroad.

The maiden edition attracted 108 applications from Nigerian businesses operating across the fashion, accessories, beauty, art, and home décor sectors. Following a rigorous evaluation process that assessed craftsmanship, storytelling, cultural relevance, originality, and market readiness, 20 brands advanced to the Lagos Pitch Day, where they presented their businesses before a panel of industry experts.

The Pitch Day brought together entrepreneurs, investors, business leaders, and key stakeholders within Nigeria's creative ecosystem, all united by a common goal of expanding global opportunities for African-owned creative enterprises.

Speaking during the event, Isioma Ezepue, Co-Founder of Zeeoma, said the company was created to solve one of the biggest challenges facing African entrepreneurs—market access.

"Every day, talented African entrepreneurs create products that genuinely enhance people’s lives, yet many never get the chance to reach the customers who need them.

"That is why Zeeoma exists—to provide that access. We want African creative brands to confidently declare that their products have been seen, worn, used, and appreciated by people around the world.

"What we observed today reinforces my belief that African brands understand their heritage, and I am continually inspired by the creativity, craftsmanship, and originality displayed by every entrepreneur who stepped onto this stage."

According to the organisers, the strong response to the inaugural Lagos edition reflects the growing ambition among Nigerian and African creative entrepreneurs to compete on the global stage when provided with the right support, visibility, and access to international markets.

At the conclusion of the competition, four exceptional brands emerged as category winners. In addition to receiving a share of the ₦7 million business funding, the winners will join Zeeoma's growing network of African creative businesses whose products are being showcased to customers in the United States through the company's curated marketplace.

The organisers expressed optimism that the programme will continue to serve as a launchpad for African creative brands seeking international recognition and sustainable commercial growth.
