Big Brother Naija Season 11 has introduced a new dimension to its competition as Aikou and Flora emerge as the first housemates to benefit from the season’s “The Gambit” twist.

The announcement was made during Sunday’s live show following a public vote that determined the male and female contestants who would take on the special role. The twist guarantees both housemates a place in the Big Brother house until the grand finale, but it comes with a major sacrifice — they are no longer eligible to compete for the ₦160 million grand prize.

Flora emerged as the female Gambit after receiving 29.38 per cent of the votes, while Aikou claimed the male position with 9.10 per cent. Other contenders, including Ricky and Abi, received 7.30 per cent and 6.07 per cent respectively.

With their new status, Aikou and Flora have secured their spots in the house until the final week of the reality show. However, unlike other contestants, their journey will not end with a chance to win the season’s record-breaking cash reward.

Announcing the result on X, the organisers explained the condition attached to the twist, writing: “Voters have chosen The Gambit. Aikou and Flora are safe until the finale, but there’s one catch… they are no longer in the running for the ₦160 million grand prize.”

The organisers also hinted that the selected housemates may have more responsibilities ahead, asking viewers: “What’s your first assignment for The Gambit this week?”

The Gambit concept was earlier introduced by Biggie as a strategic twist designed to change the dynamics of the competition. According to him, the advantage would provide selected housemates with security in the game but would remove their eligibility for the ultimate prize.

“This gameplay is called The Gambit. Should you be selected, you will be gifted longevity in the Big Brother house, guaranteeing you a place in the game until the end of the season.

“However, it comes with one important condition. You will not be competing for the grand prize. You will, however, remain a fully-fledged housemate, and all the rules of the game still apply to you,” Biggie said.

The voting process saw viewers decide the two beneficiaries, while Head of House Chimsom Chuka was excluded from the selection process.

Aikou, 25, is a freelance teacher and web developer from Abuja. Known for his calm nature, confidence and outspoken personality, he describes himself as a book lover who enjoys his own company. The reality star, who is single, has also expressed his openness to finding love again, while noting that dishonesty is one trait he struggles to tolerate.

Flora, who hails from Delta State, is a makeup entrepreneur with a strong passion for fashion and self-expression. She describes her romantic life as “complicated” and believes her honesty and bold personality make her a force to watch among the housemates.

Big Brother Naija Season 11 premiered on July 26 with 24 housemates entering the competition to battle for the ₦160 million grand prize. The introduction of “The Gambit” adds another layer of strategy, as contestants now face the challenge of balancing survival, popularity and the pursuit of victory.
