The legal dispute between former BBNaija couple Bella Okagbue and Segun “Sheggz” Olusemo has taken a new turn, with Bella’s lawyers rejecting the defamation allegations against their client and making fresh claims about their former relationship.
In a letter dated 24 August 2026, Bella’s legal representatives responded to a cease-and-desist notice issued on Sheggz’s behalf, describing the allegations against the reality TV star as “spurious and baseless.”
The lawyers maintained that Bella’s comments on social media were based on her personal feelings and experiences during and after her relationship with Sheggz. They argued that the statements did not amount to defamatory claims capable of harming his reputation.
Lawyers accuse Sheggz of broken marriage promise
In a further escalation of the dispute, Bella’s legal team alleged that Sheggz had promised to marry their client but subsequently breached that commitment.
They also accused him of misrepresenting his intentions during the relationship, which they characterised as deceitful conduct.
The allegations form part of Bella’s lawyers’ broader response to Sheggz’s demands, as the former couple continues to exchange claims through their legal representatives.
Fresh allegation over loans
Bella’s lawyers also made a separate financial allegation against Sheggz, claiming that he obtained multiple loans from their client under false pretences.
According to the legal team, they have evidence to support the allegation and are prepared to take the matter before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The lawyers did not accept Sheggz’s demand for a retraction or apology, nor did they agree to the proposed cease-and-desist order. Instead, they maintained that Bella had not published any false or defamatory statements about her former partner.
Warning issued over contact with Bella
Bella’s legal representatives also raised concerns about the conduct of a member of Sheggz’s legal team.
They alleged that the lawyer had repeatedly contacted Bella through unsolicited messages, phone calls and video calls, including at what they described as odd hours.
The legal team warned the lawyer to stop the alleged conduct, adding another layer to the increasingly contentious dispute.
Public fallout turns legal
Bella and Sheggz, who became romantically involved after meeting on Big Brother Naija, have remained the subject of public interest since their relationship began.
The latest exchange marks a significant escalation, with allegations that were previously aired largely in the public domain now being addressed through formal legal correspondence.
While Sheggz’s side has accused Bella of defamation and demanded that the alleged statements be withdrawn, Bella’s lawyers have firmly rejected those claims and introduced their own allegations against the former BBNaija housemate.
The competing claims remain allegations at this stage, and any issues that proceed to court would ultimately be determined through the legal process.
