Dangote Industries Limited and Sinoma International Engineering Co. Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) worth over $800 million for the expansion of the Dangote Cement Plant in Itori, Ogun State, in a move expected to significantly boost Nigeria’s cement production capacity.
The expansion project will increase the Itori plant’s output capacity to 12 million metric tonnes per annum, strengthening Dangote Cement’s ability to meet rising domestic demand while expanding its presence in regional and international export markets.
The agreement was signed by the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, and the Chairman of Sinoma International Engineering, Lin Zhong, reaffirming the strategic partnership between both companies and their shared commitment to advancing industrial development in Africa.
The investment is expected to further consolidate Nigeria’s position as one of Africa’s leading cement-producing countries while enhancing the country’s participation in the global cement market.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Dangote described the project as a significant milestone in the company’s expansion drive and part of its broader commitment to supporting Nigeria’s industrial transformation.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for creating an environment that encourages private-sector investment, noting that the decision to expand the Itori plant was influenced by Nigeria’s renewed focus on infrastructure development and the increasing use of concrete in road construction.
Dangote said the additional capacity would also support the company’s export ambitions, particularly in meeting cement demand across African markets, while contributing to foreign exchange generation and economic growth.
He explained that the project aligns with Dangote Industries’ Vision 2030 target of achieving cement production capacity of between 90 million and 100 million metric tonnes annually.
According to him, the expansion would deliver wider economic benefits through increased industrial activity, job creation and stronger value chains linked to the cement sector.
The Chairman of Sinoma International Engineering, Lin Zhong, expressed confidence in the renewed partnership, assuring that the company would deploy its engineering expertise, advanced technology and global experience to ensure the successful delivery of the expansion project.
He said the project would strengthen Dangote Cement’s competitiveness while contributing to the development of sustainable industrial infrastructure in Nigeria and across Africa.
The latest agreement represents another major collaboration between Dangote and Sinoma, with both organisations continuing to play significant roles in expanding Africa’s industrial capacity through large-scale manufacturing and infrastructure investments.
