‘Love Sensation’ Slips to No. 3 as New Kylie Minogue Version Reaches New Sales Peak

Madonna has added another major achievement to her Confessions II era, earning her 20th career entry on Billboard’s Dance Airplay chart with “Danceteria.”

The new single debuts at No. 30 on this week’s ranking, extending Madonna’s remarkable run on the dance chart as multiple songs from her recently released album continue to make an impact.

The arrival of “Danceteria” comes just one week after Madonna reached No. 1 on the Dance Airplay chart with “Love Sensation.” The track now falls to No. 3, ending its one-week reign at the top.

“Love Sensation” became Madonna’s ninth No. 1 on the chart when it reached the summit last week. With nine leaders, she is now tied with Ellie Goulding for the fifth-most No. 1s in the history of the ranking. Only The Chainsmokers, Rihanna, Calvin Harris and David Guetta have collected more.

Kaskade, Natalie Jane and Layton Giordani take over the top position this week with “Meet Again,” which climbs from No. 3 to No. 1. “Sad Girls,” a collaboration between Bebe Rexha and David Guetta, holds at No. 2.

‘Danceteria’ Becomes Madonna’s 20th Dance Airplay Hit

Although “Love Sensation” has surrendered the top spot, Madonna remains firmly represented on the Dance Airplay chart with the debut of “Danceteria.”

The song becomes her 20th career hit on the ranking and her latest release from Confessions II, which has been well received by critics and helped reinforce the pop superstar’s enduring presence on the dance charts.

“Danceteria” also makes a stronger opening than “Bring Your Love,” Madonna’s collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter. That song debuted and peaked at No. 36 in June.

Of Madonna’s 20 Dance Airplay hits, 11 have reached the top 10. Two of those — “Celebration” and “Me Against the Music,” her collaboration with Britney Spears — reached the top 10 without climbing to No. 1.

Madonna’s 20 Dance Airplay entries are:

  • “4 Minutes” with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland
  • “Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter
  • “Celebration”
  • “Danceteria”
  • “Get Together”
  • “Girl Gone Wild”
  • “Give It 2 Me”
  • “Give Me All Your Luvin’” with Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.
  • “Hollywood”
  • “Hung Up”
  • “I Feel So Free”
  • “I Rise”
  • “Jump”
  • “Living for Love”
  • “Love Profusion”
  • “Love Sensation”
  • “Me Against the Music” with Britney Spears
  • “Miles Away”
  • “Popular” with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti
  • “Sorry”

Madonna and Kylie Minogue Make Sales Gains

Madonna is also enjoying success on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart, thanks to a new version of “Love Sensation” featuring Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue.

The updated version re-enters the chart at a new career-high position of No. 5. According to Luminate, the song sold slightly more than 3,000 copies during the latest tracking period, with the figure combining sales of both the original solo version and the newly released duet.

The Madonna-Minogue collaboration is the highest-ranking reentry on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart.

Other artists also make notable returns. Shaboozey reenters with “Cowgirls” at No. 11 and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” at No. 13, while Bruno Mars, Beyoncé and Olivia Dean return at Nos. 21, 22 and 23, respectively.

‘Love Sensation’ Becomes One of Madonna’s Biggest Sales Hits

The new version pushes “Love Sensation” to No. 5, making it Madonna’s fourth-highest-charting song on the Digital Song Sales ranking.

Only three of her songs have climbed higher, with all three reaching No. 1: “4 Minutes,” featuring Justin Timberlake and Timbaland; “Hung Up”; and “Levitating” by Dua Lipa, on which Madonna was featured.

The result gives “Love Sensation” another significant milestone as Madonna continues to build on the commercial momentum surrounding Confessions II.

Kylie Minogue Sets New Digital Song Sales Record

For Minogue, the collaboration represents an even bigger breakthrough on the chart.

The Madonna duet doubles her career total on Digital Song Sales. Before “Love Sensation,” Minogue had appeared on the ranking only once, with “Padam Padam,” which reached No. 18 several years ago.

Now, the Grammy-winning Australian singer has established a new career best with “Love Sensation,” which opens at No. 5.

The latest figures therefore give both pop stars another chart milestone, while Madonna’s Confessions II era continues to produce new entries and high-ranking performances across Billboard’s dance and sales charts.
