The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has appointed the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), Adeleye Falade, as a member of its Board of Directors, in a move aimed at deepening the organisation’s private sector-led approach to economic policy advocacy and national development.

The appointment, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Chief Executive Officer of NESG, Dr Tayo Aduloju, was announced at the group’s 2026 Annual General Meeting held on July 14, 2026, at the NESG Summit House in Lagos, with other participants joining virtually.

The meeting provided an opportunity for members of the organisation’s board, auditors, company secretaries and other stakeholders to review NESG’s activities, financial performance and strategic direction for the year ended December 31, 2025.

NESG said Falade’s appointment was part of its broader effort to strengthen its leadership structure with professionals whose expertise and experience can contribute to advancing sustainable economic development, inclusive growth and private sector-driven transformation in Nigeria.

“The appointment of Falade further reflects the NESG’s commitment to strengthening its leadership with accomplished professionals whose expertise and experience will support the Group’s mission of promoting sustainable economic development, inclusive growth, and private sector-driven transformation in Nigeria,” the statement read.

Falade, who currently leads NLNG, one of the world’s major liquefied natural gas companies, brings almost 30 years of experience across various segments of the global oil and gas industry, including upstream operations, midstream activities and liquefied natural gas production.

Over the course of his career, he has occupied several technical, operational and executive positions within the Shell Group and the international LNG sector, gaining experience across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Russia and Africa.

His professional expertise covers operations management, engineering, production optimisation, business transformation, operational efficiency, organisational development and stakeholder relations.

Prior to his appointment as NLNG’s chief executive, Falade served as Managing Director of Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad, where he provided leadership for one of the world’s established LNG producers. He also served as Country Chair for Shell Namibia, managing the company’s operations and engagements with key stakeholders in the country.

At NLNG, Falade previously held important leadership roles, including General Manager, Production, and Operations Manager. In those positions, he contributed to improvements in plant reliability, safety standards, operational performance and overall business efficiency.

NESG described Falade as a leader recognised for his commitment to operational discipline, strong governance practices, organisational transformation and sustainable value creation.

The new NESG board member holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Ibadan and a Master of Business Administration from Henley Business School, University of Reading, United Kingdom.

He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.

NESG stated that Falade’s experience would provide additional strength to its policy discussions and reform initiatives, particularly in areas relating to energy, infrastructure, governance and economic competitiveness.

“As a Director on the NESG Board, Falade brings deep expertise in energy, infrastructure, governance, business transformation, and national economic development. His extensive private-sector experience will contribute valuable perspectives to the NESG’s policy dialogue and its efforts to advance reforms that promote investment, productivity, competitiveness, and sustainable economic growth,” the statement said.

The organisation added that his background in the energy sector and business transformation would support its evidence-based advocacy efforts and contribute to policies aimed at achieving long-term economic transformation in Nigeria.

“The NESG is confident that Falade’s wealth of experience and leadership in the energy sector, combined with his expertise in operational excellence, business transformation, and stakeholder engagement, will further strengthen the Group’s efforts in shaping evidence-based policy advocacy and advancing Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda,” the statement added.

With Falade’s inclusion on the board, NESG is expected to leverage his industry knowledge and leadership experience to strengthen collaboration between government, businesses and other stakeholders in developing policies that promote investment, productivity and sustainable economic growth.
