NEURA Mobile Robots GmbH is acquiring 100% of the shares in Ulm-based ADLATUS Robotics GmbH, bringing the company’s autonomous cleaning and sweeping systems into the NEURA portfolio.
The deal follows NEURA’s recent addition of Bosch Rexroth’s ACTIVE Shuttle to its portfolio and forms part of a broader strategy to connect different robots, applications and artificial-intelligence capabilities through a shared Physical AI infrastructure.
Rather than building isolated machines for individual tasks, NEURA wants its Neuraverse platform to allow robots with different designs and functions to share AI models, sensor information and capabilities.
ADLATUS brings years of experience in autonomous cleaning robotics for industrial, logistics, healthcare, commercial and public environments. The company has hundreds of systems deployed in the field, along with its own navigation software and extensive knowledge of real-world cleaning operations.
From Cleaning Robots to Intelligent Machines
NEURA said the acquisition will allow it to build on ADLATUS’s existing technology while adding more advanced sensors and AI capabilities to its machines.
The long-term objective is to move autonomous cleaning robots beyond predetermined routes and task instructions.
Instead, NEURA envisions machines capable of interpreting their surroundings, identifying different floor surfaces and types of dirt, understanding changing situations and choosing the appropriate cleaning strategy.
The robots could also learn from data gathered during real-world deployments, gradually transforming specialized cleaning machines into intelligent agents connected to the wider Neuraverse ecosystem.
“We’re not buying ADLATUS just to add another cleaning robot to our portfolio. We want to give machines like this a new brain,” said NEURA Robotics founder and CEO David Reger.
“Cleaning is a massive global labor market and, at the same time, a perfect example of what Physical AI can transform,” Reger said. “When a robot doesn’t just navigate its environment but understands what it sees, senses, and needs to do, an entirely new generation of machines emerges. That’s exactly what we’re building the Neuraverse for.”
NEURA Targets an Open Robotics Ecosystem
The acquisition is not intended to create a closed ecosystem limited to NEURA's own robots.
The company said it wants the Neuraverse to become an open Physical AI infrastructure that can accommodate robots from different manufacturers and in different form factors.
In the longer term, manufacturers of cleaning robots, autonomous mobile robots and other machines could potentially connect their systems to AI technologies, models and capabilities developed within the NEURA ecosystem.
That would position ADLATUS not only as a new product line but also as a real-world platform for testing and developing Physical AI capabilities.
“Physical AI will only truly scale if it becomes an ecosystem,” Reger said.
The approach reflects a key difference between conventional generative AI and Physical AI. While generative AI can primarily learn from digital information, physical robots must operate in unpredictable environments and learn from real-world data and experience.
ADLATUS’s existing fleet therefore gives NEURA a potentially valuable source of operational data and a testing ground for new AI-enabled capabilities.
Combining Industrial Experience With AI
The acquisition will give ADLATUS access to NEURA Group’s manufacturing capabilities, international sales network and technology platform.
In return, ADLATUS brings established customer relationships, specialized engineering expertise and years of experience operating autonomous cleaning systems in real-world environments.
Andreas Lindemann, managing director of NEURA Mobile Robots GmbH, said autonomous cleaning represents a natural expansion of the company's mobile-robotics business.
“Our ambition is to take mobile robotics beyond classic material transport,” Lindemann said. “Autonomous cleaning is a logical next step in that direction.”
He added that NEURA plans to integrate the cleaning solutions into its Fleet Manager, potentially allowing existing and future customers to manage the technology alongside other mobile-robot applications.
“With ADLATUS, we’re laying the groundwork to grow this business deliberately and, over the long term, establish it as its own product family within our AMR portfolio,” Lindemann said.
Building a European Physical AI Industry
The acquisition also fits into NEURA’s broader ambition to strengthen Europe’s position in robotics and artificial intelligence.
Europe has long-established expertise in mechanical engineering, industrial automation, sensors and manufacturing processes. NEURA argues that combining those capabilities with modern AI could create a new generation of intelligent machines while preserving technologies and expertise already developed by European companies.
“Europe has an incredible amount of industrial knowledge. We don’t need to reinvent everything – we need to combine the best of what already exists with artificial intelligence and scale it much faster,” Reger said.
“That’s exactly what we’re doing. Companies like ADLATUS bring decades of experience from the physical world. NEURA brings the Physical AI infrastructure. When we combine these strengths, we can build an entirely new industry out of Europe.”
Partnership Precedes Acquisition
The acquisition builds on an existing relationship between the two companies.
NEURA Robotics and ADLATUS have been strategic partners since September 2025, with their first joint public appearance taking place at CMS in Berlin.
The companies also share a similar philosophy about the role of robotics in society. ADLATUS takes its name from the Latin word for “helper” and has focused on developing machines intended to assist people with everyday and physically demanding work.
That philosophy aligns with NEURA’s stated mission, “We serve humanity.”
The companies argue that robotics should not simply be about replacing human workers, but about taking on dangerous, repetitive and physically demanding tasks and allowing people to focus on work that requires uniquely human capabilities.
By bringing ADLATUS’s deployed cleaning robots together with NEURA’s Physical AI infrastructure, the companies are betting that the next generation of industrial robotics will be defined less by individual machines and more by interconnected, intelligent systems capable of learning from the physical world.
