Amstel Malta named headline sponsor as entries open August 15 across 31 competitive categories

The Nigerian Marketing Awards (NMA) is set to mark a major milestone in its development with the fifth edition of the annual celebration of marketing excellence, innovation and impact scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2026, at The Jewel Aeida, Lekki, Lagos.

Now in its fifth year, the awards platform is positioning the 2026 edition as a defining moment for Nigeria’s marketing industry, with organisers calling on brands, agencies, organisations and individual professionals to submit campaigns and initiatives that demonstrate creativity, strategic thinking and measurable business or societal impact.

Entries for the awards will open on August 15 and close on September 22, 2026, giving prospective entrants an opportunity to present their strongest work for consideration across 31 competitive categories.

The fifth edition will be anchored on the theme, “Reimagine Marketing,” which organisers described as a call for practitioners to challenge conventional approaches, explore emerging opportunities and reconsider the contribution of marketing to businesses, consumers and society.

The theme comes at a period of rapid transformation in the marketing landscape, with artificial intelligence, data analytics, changing consumer behaviour, emerging media platforms and economic pressures reshaping how brands engage their audiences.

Amstel Malta named headline sponsor

Amstel Malta has been confirmed as the headline sponsor of the 2026 Nigerian Marketing Awards.

According to the organisers, the partnership reflects a shared commitment by the two brands to excellence, innovation and the recognition of outstanding achievements.

The sponsorship is expected to add further visibility to an awards programme that has, since its establishment in 2022, developed into a national platform for recognising the people, organisations and ideas influencing the direction of marketing in Nigeria.

Over its first four editions, the Nigerian Marketing Awards has sought to distinguish itself through an emphasis on credibility, transparency and rigorous evaluation.

The awards' judging process is overseen by the Awards Decision Council, an independent body comprising experienced professionals selected for their expertise, integrity and contributions to the marketing and communications sector.

Founder challenges industry to think beyond convention

Founder of the Nigerian Marketing Awards, Mr Tony Agenmonmen, fnimn, described the fifth edition as more than an anniversary, saying it represented an opportunity to reflect on the development of the Nigerian marketing profession while challenging practitioners to prepare for the future.

“The fifth edition is more than an anniversary; it is a defining moment in our journey. It celebrates how far Nigerian marketing has come while challenging us to imagine how much further it can go,” Agenmonmen said.

He added that the next phase of the industry would favour professionals and organisations capable of combining creativity, technology, deeper consumer understanding and measurable impact.

“The future will belong to brands and professionals who are prepared to question assumptions, embrace creativity and technology, understand people more deeply and demonstrate meaningful impact,” he said.

Explaining the thinking behind the 2026 theme, Agenmonmen said the awards were designed to encourage marketers to move beyond established practices and explore new possibilities for the profession.

“Through the theme ‘Reimagine Marketing’, we are calling on the industry to move beyond familiar approaches and reconsider what marketing can achieve—for businesses, consumers, communities and the nation,” he said.

“We want this edition to inspire courageous thinking and recognise work that does not merely follow change but helps to create it.”

Marketing industry faces rapid transformation

The 2026 awards come against the backdrop of significant changes in the marketing and communications environment.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly influencing content creation, customer engagement, market intelligence and campaign optimisation, while the growing availability of consumer data is changing how brands understand and target their audiences.

At the same time, consumers are demanding greater relevance, authenticity and accountability from businesses, while marketers are being challenged to deliver stronger commercial results amid difficult economic conditions.

The “Reimagine Marketing” theme seeks to capture these developments by encouraging practitioners to strike a balance between technology and human insight.

The organisers said the edition would recognise work that combines creativity with commercial effectiveness, technological innovation with human understanding, and brand growth with positive social impact.

Broad categories to recognise contemporary marketing

The 31 competitive categories will cover a wide spectrum of contemporary marketing practice, including brands, campaigns, agencies and individual professionals.

Other areas of recognition will include innovation, digital marketing, experiential marketing, sustainability and reputation management, among other fields.

Organisers are encouraging eligible participants to begin preparing their entries ahead of the August 15 opening date.

Submissions are expected to demonstrate not only originality and effective execution but also clear strategic thinking and evidence of measurable results.

This emphasis on outcomes reflects the changing expectations of the marketing profession, where creative ideas are increasingly expected to deliver demonstrable value for businesses, consumers and wider society.

Industry leaders expected in Lagos

The November 21 ceremony is expected to attract leading marketing and communications professionals, business executives, agency heads, policymakers, academics, media representatives and other stakeholders.

Beyond celebrating winning campaigns and professionals, the event is expected to provide an opportunity for industry stakeholders to reflect on the direction of marketing in Nigeria and the forces shaping its future.

For NMA, reaching its fifth edition represents a significant stage in its development.

Since its launch in 2022, the awards have sought to establish a credible platform for acknowledging excellence while raising professional standards across the Nigerian marketing industry.

As it enters its fifth year, the organisation said it remains committed to promoting marketing as a strategic driver of business growth, consumer value, social progress and national development.

With the 2026 edition centred on the challenge to “Reimagine Marketing”, the awards are seeking not only to celebrate the industry's achievements but also to spotlight the ideas, people and organisations capable of defining its next chapter.
