Nigerian forward begins new chapter after leaving APOEL Nicosia
Nigerian forward Peter Olayinka has completed a permanent move to Saudi Arabian club Al Wehda, bringing his spell with Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia to an end.
The 30-year-old joined Al Wehda as a free agent after severing ties with APOEL, where he spent part of the previous campaign.
Olayinka made 14 league appearances for the Cypriot club, scoring twice before his departure.
The versatile attacker now begins another chapter in a career that has taken him across several European leagues and seen him represent clubs in Czechia, Serbia, Cyprus and Belgium.
Olayinka enjoyed one of the most successful periods of his career at Czech First Division giants Slavia Prague.
During his time with the club, he won three league titles and three Czech Cup trophies, establishing himself as an important member of the squad.
He subsequently continued his trophy-laden career in Serbia with Red Star Belgrade, where he helped the club secure the domestic double on two occasions.
His experience across different leagues and his ability to operate in multiple attacking positions are expected to strengthen Al Wehda's options as the Nigerian looks to make an impact in Saudi Arabia.
The move also gives Olayinka an opportunity to revive his fortunes following a relatively brief stint in Cyprus and add another country to an increasingly diverse club career.
