Celebrity designer says marriage means sharing life together, dismisses criticism over attending events as a couple.

Celebrity fashion designer Veekee James has responded to critics questioning why her husband, Femi Atere, frequently accompanies her to public events, insisting that their close bond reflects the kind of marriage they have chosen to build together.

The entrepreneur addressed the issue in a video shared on her social media page after a user suggested that her husband lacked "a life of his own" because he is often seen by her side at public functions.

Responding to the criticism, Veekee dismissed the claim, saying marriage for her and her husband is about living life together rather than separately.

"Yes, my husband does not have a life of his own. His life is my life, the same way I don't have a life of my own."

She continued:

"My life is his life. He is me and I am him. Together we are like padlock and key."

'You Don't Know What Marriage Is'

The celebrity designer argued that those criticising their relationship do not understand the commitment and partnership that marriage represents.

According to her, every couple is free to define their marriage in a way that works for them.

"When you marry your own, separate him. When you marry your own, remove him from your life and keep him somewhere else."

She added:

"You don't know what marriage is. His life is mine, my life is his. Everything he is, is mine."

Veekee maintained that she sees marriage as a union where spouses share every aspect of their lives, including work, social engagements and public appearances.

'You'll See Us Everywhere'

Despite the criticism, the fashion entrepreneur made it clear that she and her husband have no intention of changing their lifestyle to satisfy online commentators.

She said the public should expect to continue seeing them together at events and other engagements.

"You've not seen anything. You will see me and my husband anywhere possible, everywhere possible, you will see us."

The video ended on a light-hearted note as Veekee jokingly described her husband as her "personal handbag" while sharing clips of the couple spending time together.

Her remarks have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some users praising the couple's closeness and others arguing that married partners should still maintain a degree of personal independence.
