Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has hinted that he is currently working on a new album, sparking excitement among fans who have been eagerly awaiting his next major project.

The singer disclosed this in a post on his X handle, where he appeared to suggest that he is enjoying the creative process behind the forthcoming body of work.

“Having so much fun making this next one! Can’t wait to share,” Wizkid wrote.

His comment quickly generated reactions from fans, many of whom have been speculating about when the Grammy-winning artiste would return with another full-length project.

Addressing those impatiently waiting for the album, Wizkid assured them that the project would eventually arrive.

“E go drop, make una stop dey fight,” he added, using Nigerian Pidgin to tell fans to stop arguing or worrying about the release.

Despite the announcement, Wizkid did not disclose the title of the album or provide a specific release date. Details about the sound, tracklist and possible collaborations also remain unknown.

The forthcoming project would be Wizkid’s first full-length album since Morayo, which was released in November 2024. The album was dedicated to his late mother, Jane Balogun, whose death had a profound impact on the singer.

Morayo featured several international and Nigerian collaborations, with artistes such as Brent Faiyaz, Asake, Jazmine Sullivan, Tiakola and Anaïs Cardot contributing to the project.

Over the years, Wizkid has established himself as one of Africa’s most influential contemporary artistes, with a catalogue that includes critically acclaimed projects such as Made in Lagos, More Love, Less Ego and Sounds From the Other Side.

With the latest teaser, attention will now turn to when Wizkid decides to reveal more details about the new album, particularly its title and official release date. For now, his assurance that “E go drop” appears to have given fans something to look forward to.
