Jack Reacher is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Amazon has renewed its hit action series “Reacher” for a sixth season, giving fans another chapter in the adventures of the imposing former military investigator played by Alan Ritchson.

The renewal comes while production on Season 5 is still underway, underscoring the continued popularity of the series, which has become one of Prime Video’s most successful original productions since its debut in 2022.

According to Amazon, the fourth season attracted 66 million viewers worldwide within its first 28 days following its August 12 launch. The eight-episode season concluded on September 16.

Amazon said Season 4 has now become one of the five most-watched seasons of any original series released by Prime Video.

Across its run, “Reacher” has accumulated 200 million viewers globally, giving the streaming platform a major franchise that has continued to expand beyond the main series.

The success has also prompted Amazon to explore the world of Lee Child’s character through the spinoff “Neagley,” starring Maria Sten, which recently premiered its first season on Prime Video.

Amazon praises Ritchson and creative team

Peter Friedlander, head of global television for Amazon MGM Studios, said the series had developed into an international television phenomenon.

“‘Reacher’ hits hard,” Friedlander said.

“What Lee Child has built and Nick Santora and his creative teams have brought to life is, simply, incredible. Alan Ritchson is Jack Reacher — he’s delivered a performance that has captivated audiences around the world.”

Friedlander also credited the show's production partners and said Amazon was looking forward to extending the franchise.

“Together with our partners at Paramount Television Studios, we couldn’t be more excited to continue this journey. Reacher is a truly iconic series, and we’re thrilled to be on the ride with this extraordinary cast and crew for Season Six.”

Ritchson's portrayal of Reacher has become central to the show's success, with the actor returning for each season as the wandering former military policeman who repeatedly becomes entangled in dangerous criminal investigations.

Season 4 adapted ‘Gone Tomorrow’

The recently completed fourth season was based on Lee Child's novel “Gone Tomorrow.”

The story follows Reacher after a chance encounter with a distressed stranger on a subway pulls him into a dangerous conspiracy. What initially appears to be a brief encounter develops into a much larger threat, placing Reacher at the centre of a deadly game.

Ritchson was joined in the fourth season by Chris Marquette, Sydelle Noel, Agnez Mo, Anggun, Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, Kevin Corrigan and Kathleen Robertson.

The season's conclusion arrived on September 16, but viewers will not have to wait for the franchise to disappear from Prime Video.

Season 5 is already in production

Production on Season 5 is currently underway in Toronto.

The upcoming season will draw its story from Child's novel “Make Me,” continuing the television adaptation of the best-selling book series.

The production is led by Nick Santora, who serves as showrunner and executive producer. Santora has overseen the television adaptation since its launch and is part of the creative team responsible for translating Child's novels to the screen.

Child and Ritchson are also executive producers, alongside Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, Lisa Kussner, Sam Hill, Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen.

Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid serve as executives-in-charge of the series for Paramount Television Studios.

The show is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios.

A growing Reacher universe

The Season 6 renewal further establishes “Reacher” as a major long-term franchise for Amazon.

The series began in 2022 with Ritchson taking on the role of Child's celebrated character. Its continued audience growth has since led Amazon to expand the property with “Neagley,” bringing Maria Sten's character into her own spinoff series.

With Season 5 still in production and Season 6 now officially ordered, Amazon has ensured that the story of the former military investigator will continue well beyond the latest season.

For fans of the franchise, the immediate focus remains on Season 5 and its adaptation of “Make Me.” But with another season already secured, the future of “Reacher” on Prime Video appears firmly established.
