Nigerian comedian and content creator Adebayo Ridwan Abidemi, popularly known as Isbae U, has revealed that his desire to break away from the ordinary prompted him to quit skit making and explore a new creative direction.
The content creator made the disclosure during a recent episode of The Moraya Show, where he reflected on his career journey and the inspiration behind his popular comic talk show, Curiosity Made Me Ask.
According to Isbae U, he reached a point where he became dissatisfied with remaining within the conventional skit-making space and began searching for a creative path that would distinguish him from other content creators.
He explained that the idea for Curiosity Made Me Ask emerged during a period when he was trying to rediscover himself and determine the direction he wanted his career to take.
“The concept of Curiosity Made Me Ask came from me finding myself. I was tired of being average and wanted to do something different. I didn’t want to be like the skit makers. A show called ‘Between Two Fence’ by Zack inspired Curiosity Made Me Ask,” he explained.
The transition has since seen Isbae U move beyond conventional comedy skits into interviews and conversations with notable personalities.
He has hosted several prominent Nigerians on the programme, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, veteran actor Pete Edochie and television host Frank Edoho.
Beyond the personalities he has already interviewed, Isbae U disclosed that he has an ambitious figure at the top of his interview wish list.
The comedian said his biggest dream is to interview United States President Donald Trump, highlighting the scale of his aspirations for the interview platform.
His career shift from skit making to interview-based comedy reflects his efforts to carve out a distinct identity in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital entertainment industry.
Through Curiosity Made Me Ask, Isbae U has continued to combine humour with conversations with prominent figures, creating a platform that has expanded his reach beyond his earlier work as a skit maker.
