Sharon Ademefun, elder sister to Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido, has revealed details of her close relationship with the singer and her involvement in managing his finances and career.
Sharon, who has been involved in Davido’s career from its early stages, said she currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of his record label, giving her a direct role in overseeing aspects of the singer’s financial affairs.
Speaking on an upcoming episode of The Morayo Show, Sharon described her relationship with her younger brother as particularly close, but acknowledged that their professional relationship often leads to disagreements.
She explained that their longstanding bond had made her comfortable confronting Davido on issues that other members of his team might be reluctant to raise.
“I’ve always taken care of David. He’s always been my baby,” Sharon said, recalling her involvement in the singer’s career from its early days.
According to her, being both Davido’s sister and part of his management team means she is often in a position to tell him difficult truths, particularly when she believes his financial decisions require closer scrutiny.
“The problem is that me and David; we are always fighting. The one that other people can’t tell him, me, I’ll tell him,” she said.
Sharon identified the singer’s spending on jewellery and luxury vehicles as recurring areas of disagreement between them.
“One of the major things that I’m always getting on my brother is jewelry and cars,” she said.
She explained that she and Davido hold regular financial meetings to review his spending and ensure that he remains aware of his financial position.
Sharon said the meetings were important because of the scale of the singer’s career and the financial decisions that come with it.
“If me and him sit down, we always have finance meeting every week because I think it’s important for him to know how his money is being spent. I always say, David, please, no more cars,” she said.
Her comments offered a glimpse into the family and business dynamics behind one of Nigeria’s most prominent music acts, with Sharon playing a dual role as both an older sister and a financial executive within Davido’s professional team.
While their disagreements may be frequent, Sharon’s account also underscored the closeness of their relationship and her stated commitment to protecting her younger brother’s financial interests as his music career continues to grow.
