In a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, DeeOne questioned why VeryDarkMan had allegedly not been arrested after publicly stating that he would not honour the invitation issued by the Nigeria Police Force.
The comedian compared the situation with the reported arrests of former Big Brother Naija housemate Tacha and businessman Blord, who, according to DeeOne, were arrested after failing to honour police invitations.
He argued that the law and law-enforcement procedures should apply equally to all citizens, regardless of their public profile or influence.
DeeOne's comments came in response to a post by VeryDarkMan concerning the police invitation. In the video, the comedian accused the IGP of shielding the social media personality, although he provided no independent evidence to substantiate the allegation.
“Fellow Nigerians, our current Inspector-General of Police, Mr Tunji Disu, is becoming a useless man. What is good for a citizen is also good for all citizens,” he said.
DeeOne cited Tacha's case, claiming that the reality television personality was arrested after allegedly failing to honour two police invitations. He noted that she was subsequently released on bail.
“Recently, former Big Brother Naija housemate Tacha was arrested by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, because she failed to honour the police invitation twice. The police did the right thing to arrest Tacha, but she has been released on bail,” he said.
He also referred to the case involving Blord, arguing that the businessman was similarly arrested after allegedly failing to appear when invited by the police.
“Everybody in Nigeria knew the time B-Lord was invited by the NPF. According to the story that we heard, they said he did not honour the invitation or he did not come at the time they wanted him to come. And the police arrested him and charged him to court quickly,” DeeOne said.

The comedian then turned his attention directly to the IGP, questioning why a different approach appeared to have been taken in VeryDarkMan's case.
“Today, VeryDarkMan has been invited by the same NPF twice. He has even come out on his platform to say that he will not honour the invitation,” he said.
DeeOne went on to allege that approval had been given for VeryDarkMan's arrest but that the IGP was preventing the arrest from taking place.
“They have approved for VeryDarkMan to be arrested. The person that is holding the arrest now is IGP Tunji Disu,” he alleged.
“So, Nigerians, is this man working for Nigerians or working for VeryDarkMan? Because all of a sudden, VeryDarkMan seems to like this man.”
DeeOne also warned the police chief that public officials could eventually be replaced, suggesting that the IGP would not remain in office indefinitely.
However, the comedian's remarks became more personal as he challenged Disu to take action against him if he believed there was a basis for doing so.
“However, Tunji Disu, sir, DeeOne no send you oo. I swear to God, if I see you today, I will greet you as a respectful human being, but I will say it to your face that you’re becoming a very useless IGP,” he said.
“Anything wey you wan do, do am. If you want to arrest DeeOne, you can go ahead because DeeOne doesn’t stop and nobody can bring DeeOne down.”
Threatens further social media revelations
DeeOne also appeared to suggest that he could release additional videos about the police chief and potentially discuss matters relating to Disu's official duties.
“You see that VeryDarkMan wey you dey defend, wey you dey say make them no touch am, go and ask him about me. I won’t say more than that,” he said.
“So, you will be expecting more videos. Sometimes, we can even go a little bit personal. Maybe some of your work wey you never do well or some of the things wey make them wan change you. So, we fit bring them to social media.”
His comments have added another layer to the growing public discussion surrounding VeryDarkMan's interactions with the police.
VeryDarkMan had previously announced that he would not honour the police invitation, according to reports.
The invitation followed a series of allegations he made against Assistant Inspector-General of Police Jimoh Moshood.
The latest controversy comes amid heightened public scrutiny of the way law-enforcement agencies handle invitations, arrests and investigations involving prominent personalities.
While DeeOne has accused the IGP of deliberately shielding VeryDarkMan, the allegation remains his claim and has not, in the information available, been independently established.
