The 23-year-old striker’s second-half equaliser rescued a valuable point for the Smurfs after Gent had taken the lead early in the encounter through Momodou Sonko.
Sonko put the visitors ahead after just 10 minutes, giving Gent the advantage and putting Genk under pressure to respond.
Durosinmi provided the answer shortly after the restart, finding the back of the net two minutes into the second half to restore parity and ensure Genk avoided defeat on home soil.
The goal further underlined the forward’s growing influence since the beginning of the campaign. Durosinmi has now scored five goals in six league appearances for Genk this season, establishing himself as the club’s leading scorer.
His performance against Gent was also recognised individually, with the Nigerian voted Man of the Match for his contribution to Genk’s comeback.
Speaking after the game, Durosinmi expressed his delight at receiving the individual accolade while also acknowledging the support of his family and wife, who have been present to encourage him.
“I am happy to have been voted Man of the Match again. It also feels good to be the top scorer at the moment. In football, anything is possible, but you have to believe in it. My family and my wife are here to cheer me on, and that feels good,” Durosinmi was quoted by the club’s official website.
With five league goals already to his name, Durosinmi will now look to maintain his scoring form as Genk continue their campaign, with the striker emerging as one of the key attacking figures in the squad.
