Nigerian startup deploys artificial intelligence to help organisations track reputation, decode media narratives and make faster communication decisions
Nigerian technology startup FlashNarrative has unveiled an artificial intelligence-powered brand intelligence platform designed to give organisations deeper insight into how they are perceived across news outlets, digital platforms and social media.
The platform combines AI, media monitoring and advanced analytics to help businesses move beyond conventional tracking of brand mentions and gain a more detailed understanding of the conversations, sentiments and narratives shaping public perception.
Co-founded by Elvis Ebenuwah, Toluwaninse Odewabi, Al-Hameen Mohammed and Michael Atuorah, FlashNarrative says its technology is built to help communications, marketing and business teams turn large volumes of media and online conversations into actionable intelligence.
The platform currently monitors more than 1,000 data sources, with its artificial intelligence engine analysing conversations to detect sentiment, emerging narratives, reputational threats and changes in competitive positioning.
Rather than simply informing organisations that their brands have been mentioned, the system is designed to provide context around those mentions, helping users understand why a conversation is gaining traction and what it could mean for their reputation or business objectives.
A major feature of the platform is its focus on the linguistic and cultural realities of African digital conversations. FlashNarrative is capable of interpreting expressions influenced by Nigerian Pidgin, Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa, while also accounting for slang, codeswitching and other forms of informal online communication.
The approach is intended to address a limitation often associated with conventional sentiment analysis tools, which may struggle to accurately interpret conversations where meaning depends heavily on local expressions, cultural references or a mixture of languages.
By incorporating these nuances into its analysis, the startup says organisations can obtain a more accurate picture of what audiences are actually saying and the sentiment behind those conversations.
The platform also offers a range of intelligence metrics, including Share of Voice (SOV), Media Impact Score (MIS) and Message Penetration Index (MPI).
“The future of brand intelligence goes beyond simply tracking where a brand is mentioned. It is about understanding the context behind conversations, identifying emerging shifts and translating those insights into timely, informed decisions. This is the intelligence FlashNarrative is designed to deliver,” the co-founders said.
The company believes such capabilities could be particularly valuable in sectors where public conversations can shift rapidly and reputation plays a significant role in consumer confidence.
Industries such as financial services, fintech, telecommunications and consumer businesses are among those that could benefit from earlier identification of reputational risks, allowing organisations to respond to potentially damaging narratives before they escalate.
The platform is also positioned as a tool for identifying opportunities, including emerging consumer interests, changes in public sentiment and developments in the competitive landscape.
For communications teams, this could provide a more proactive approach to reputation management, enabling them to identify significant shifts in public conversation rather than relying solely on traditional media reports or periodic brand assessments.
Developed in Nigeria but built with a broader global market outlook, FlashNarrative is positioning its platform as an alternative to conventional media monitoring systems by combining local contextual understanding with measurable communication intelligence.
The startup's launch reflects the growing application of artificial intelligence to corporate communications, as organisations increasingly seek technology capable of processing the huge volume of information generated across traditional and digital media.
With its emphasis on local language, cultural context and measurable communication outcomes, FlashNarrative is seeking to demonstrate that effective brand intelligence requires more than counting mentions—it requires understanding the meaning, sentiment and wider narrative behind them.
