Rising Afrobeats singer FOLA has gifted his mother the specific car she requested, completing the two major wishes she made after his music career began to gain momentum.
The singer shared the emotional milestone on social media, reflecting on how far his career and personal circumstances have come. According to FOLA, he once asked his mother what she wanted when his fortunes began to change, and she named two things: a church building of her own and a particular car.
“When things started to align, I randomly asked my mother what she wanted and she said she wanted her own church building and this specific car. I thank God for keeping this running long enough for me to say I've done both things,” he wrote.
The latest gift completes a journey that began earlier in FOLA’s career, when he bought his mother a piece of land in Ibadan with money earned from music.
His mother subsequently used the land to build her own church, fulfilling the first of the two requests she had made to her son.
The car, therefore, represents more than a luxury gift. For FOLA, it marks the fulfilment of a promise made at a time when his career was only beginning to take shape.
A Journey From Cashier to Rising Star
The gesture has also attracted attention because of the singer’s humble beginnings.
Before his breakthrough in the music industry, FOLA worked as a Bet9ja cashier in Ibadan while pursuing his ambition of becoming a successful musician.
