Miley Cyrus has returned to the summit of the Billboard 200, more than a decade after her last chart-topping album, as her latest project, Bass Persuades, narrowly claims No. 1 in one of the week’s closest album races.

The album opens with 61,000 equivalent album units, putting Cyrus ahead of Ella Langley’s Dandelion, which remains at No. 2 with nearly 61,000 units, according to Billboard. Riley Green’s That’s Just Me follows closely at No. 3 with 60,000 units.

The result gives Cyrus her sixth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 and marks her first album to reach the top of the chart since Bangerz in 2013. Bass Persuades also becomes her 16th project to reach the Billboard 200’s top 10.

The achievement places Cyrus among a small group of artists who have experienced a gap of at least 10 years between No. 1 albums in 2026. She follows Bruno Mars, whose The Romantic reached No. 1 in March, and A$AP Rocky, whose Don’t Be Dumb topped the chart in January.

Cyrus, who is using the mononym “Miley” during the current era, announced Bass Persuades in early September, only weeks before the album’s release. In announcing the project on social media, she described music as a powerful force capable of capturing the full range of human emotion.

“Music takes hold of us,” she wrote. “We feel it, sing it, sometimes dance to it, let it out and carry on. It is powerful, vulnerable, sweet and strong. Heart full, heartache, every part of life in between. That’s what the title means to me. Thank you for being a part of making my wildest dreams come true. I sincerely hope you love this album.”

The singer introduced the album with its title track, releasing the song alongside a music video before the full project arrived on September 18. The release continues a career marked by major chart successes across pop, rock and country-influenced music, while also representing a new chapter in Cyrus’ musical identity.

Her return to the top of the album chart comes as she prepares for a rare live appearance next month. Cyrus is scheduled to perform two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 16 and 18. Model/Actriz, who appears on Bass Persuades, is set to join her as a special guest.

Ella Langley Extends Hot 100 Dominance

While Cyrus takes the week’s top album honors, Ella Langley continues her remarkable run on the singles chart.

Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” remains at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a 24th consecutive week. The song reached the milestone one week after surpassing Mariah Carey’s record for the most weeks at No. 1 with “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

“Choosin’ Texas” has also rewritten the record book on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart, where it has accumulated 19 weeks at No. 1, establishing a new record for the most weeks atop that tally.

The close album race between Cyrus and Langley underscores the narrow margins separating several of this week’s biggest releases, with Green also finishing within striking distance of the top two.

Wallen, Rodrigo and Kahan Round Out the Top Five

Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem lands at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, while Olivia Rodrigo’s You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love takes the No. 5 position.

Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide sits at No. 6, followed by Beabadoobee’s Pylon at No. 7 and Jhené Aiko’s Westside Whimsy at No. 8.

Drake’s Iceman comes in at No. 9, while Kahan appears again at No. 10 with Stick Season.

For Cyrus, however, the week belongs to Bass Persuades, which has restored her to the top of the Billboard 200 for the first time since 2013 and adds another No. 1 chapter to an already extensive chart career.
