Reality star tells former housemates to embrace business, hard work and personal growth.
Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tochi has advised ex-housemates facing difficult times to move beyond the celebrity identity associated with reality television and focus on building sustainable careers, businesses and personal growth.
Tochi, in a post on Instagram, said former contestants should not rely solely on the fame or recognition they gained from appearing on the reality show, stressing that success after the programme depends on individual effort and finding a personal path.
The reality star said he stopped viewing himself primarily as a former BBNaija personality in 2024 and now considers himself a businessman.
He also acknowledged that not every contestant would achieve immediate or long-term success through the platform, urging his colleagues to remain focused regardless of their circumstances.
“If you’re a Bbnaija Ex housemate and you’re going through a rough time listen ‘pack up all that I am a celebrity nonsense and lock it inside a box.. come out and hustle oh, if not you go cry pass new born baby oh’,” he said.
Tochi urged former housemates to surround themselves with people who would encourage and motivate them rather than those who constantly remind them of their former celebrity status.
“I have even forgotten I went on that show since 2024, I see myself as a bueinsss man now.. destiny differs not everyone is destined to make it from the show, keep your head up and live your truth,” he said.
According to him, former housemates should develop identities beyond reality television and ensure that their work ethic and values become more important to how people perceive them.
He encouraged his colleagues to be deliberate about the company they keep, warning against people who use their celebrity status to discourage them from engaging in ordinary business or pursuing new opportunities.
“Surround yourself with people that supports, motivate and encourage you, not people that will use ‘shebi you know you’re now a celeb’ block all your ears,” he added.
Tochi said the ultimate goal should be for people to recognise former housemates not merely as reality television personalities, but as individuals working hard to build meaningful lives and careers.
“When people see you let them not see you only as an Ex housemate but also a hustler with values trying to make it.. favor always meet a man in motion,” he said.
His comments come amid broader conversations among former reality TV contestants about life after BBNaija, with many participants transitioning into entrepreneurship, entertainment, influencing and other professional ventures after their time on the show.
