Veteran actress joins Pete Edochie in highly anticipated cinema project.
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has announced veteran actress Sola Sobowale as the second confirmed cast member of her upcoming cinema film, Bestie, adding another prominent name to a project already attracting attention ahead of its nationwide release.
Abraham made the announcement on Thursday through her official social media platforms, introducing Sobowale as a major figure in the production and revealing that she would portray the character Mama Ngozi.
In a message celebrating the veteran actress, Abraham wrote: “She’s a LEGEND. She’s GOAT. She’s KING! Maami Sola Sobowale as Mama Ngozi in BESTIE BESTIE — in cinemas from 16th December!”
The announcement comes only days after Abraham unveiled legendary actor Pete Edochie as the first confirmed cast member of the forthcoming movie.
Sobowale is widely recognised for her commanding performances and has remained one of the notable figures in Nigeria’s film industry over the years. She gained renewed international attention for her portrayal of Alhaja Eniola Salami in the acclaimed King of Boys franchise, a role that further cemented her reputation as one of Nollywood’s celebrated performers.
Her inclusion in Bestie brings together two generations of Nigerian screen talent, with the production expected to draw interest from audiences familiar with both Abraham’s commercially successful films and Sobowale’s extensive acting career.
The film is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide on December 16, positioning it among the titles expected to compete for audience attention during the busy festive-season cinema period.
Abraham, who has established herself as an actress, producer and filmmaker with a strong presence in Nigeria’s commercial film industry, has so far chosen to unveil the cast of Bestie gradually. The staggered announcements have generated growing curiosity about the other actors who will feature in the production.
With Pete Edochie and Sola Sobowale now confirmed, attention is expected to turn to the remaining cast members and further details about the storyline, production and characters in Bestie as the December release date approaches.
