The court has now fixed February 8, 2027, for the plea and trial preparation hearing, while the trial itself has been scheduled for March 8, 2027, according to reports on the proceedings.
The development followed the unavailability of the charge sheet when the matter came before the court on September 15. As a result, Poco Lee did not enter a plea to the charges.
A report by BBC News Pidgin quoted the circumstances surrounding the adjournment, stating: “In court, Poco Lee did not appear because the charge sheet was not available. As a result, he did not enter a plea.”
The report added that the next plea and trial preparation hearing would take place on February 8, 2027, when the entertainer is expected to indicate whether he intends to plead guilty or not guilty.
The case will then proceed towards trial, which has been listed for March 8, 2027.
Bail Granted
The latest development comes days after Snaresbrook Crown Court confirmed that Poco Lee had been granted bail on September 11.
The court had initially listed September 15 for a plea and trial preparation hearing. The confirmation of his bail followed reports and speculation on social media about his custody status.
Court correspondence had stated: “The Defendant has been granted bail on the 11th September 2026,” while also confirming that a plea and trial preparation hearing was scheduled for September 15.
His release on bail does not mean that the criminal proceedings have been withdrawn or resolved. The case remains before the court.
Reports indicate that Poco Lee is facing five sexual offence charges — one count of attempted rape, two counts of rape and two counts of assault by penetration. The allegations have not been determined by the court.
Poco Lee has denied the allegations and maintained that he is innocent. In a recent online appearance, he spoke about the case and insisted that he had not committed the offences alleged against him.
“If I were inside there and I did what I was accused of, I would have felt I was paying for my sins, but since I knew I didn’t do what I was accused of, my mind is pure,” he said.
Support at Court
The case has attracted considerable attention among Nigerians in the United Kingdom and on social media.
Earlier reports indicated that Nigerians were present around the court to show support for the entertainer, with some supporters reportedly unable to secure space inside the gallery.
The proceedings have also generated considerable discussion online, particularly following reports of Poco Lee’s arrest, subsequent bail and the status of the criminal case.
However, the court proceedings remain ongoing, and no finding of guilt has been made against the entertainer.
