Music streaming platform Audiomack has partnered with Felabration 2026, the annual festival celebrating the life, music and enduring legacy of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, offering subscribers exclusive experiences during the week-long event in Lagos.
The festival, scheduled to hold from October 13 to 19, will feature a special offering for Audiomack+ subscribers, including limited VIP access and exclusive merchandise, as the streaming platform seeks to deepen its engagement with music fans and the wider African music community.
Audiomack said both existing subscribers and new users who sign up for Audiomack+ during the festival period would be eligible to claim VIP seats, subject to availability and on a first-come, first-served basis.
Subscribers attending the event can visit the Audiomack stand, where representatives will assist them in accessing the designated VIP area.
The partnership forms part of the platform’s broader efforts to extend its subscription services beyond digital streaming by providing members with access to live music events and other exclusive benefits.
In addition to the on-ground experience, Audiomack has released a dedicated Felabration 2026 playlist featuring songs by Fela alongside works from contemporary artists influenced by his distinctive Afrobeat sound.
The playlist is designed to connect Fela’s musical catalogue with a new generation of listeners while highlighting the continuing influence of his rhythms, themes and creative approach on contemporary African music.
Commenting on the partnership, Audiomack’s Vice President of Marketing, Charlotte Bwana, said Afrobeat’s influence on contemporary music continues to expand across international markets.
“Afrobeat sits at the root of so much of the African music the world is dancing to right now, and Fela is a big reason why,” Bwana said.
“Our Felabration playlist is an open door back to the source. For our Audiomack+ subscribers, we wanted to go further and put them in the room where the culture lives.”
Her remarks highlight the platform’s approach to celebrating Fela’s legacy by combining music discovery with opportunities for fans to experience the culture surrounding his work in a live setting.
Held for nearly three decades, Felabration has grown into a major annual celebration of Fela’s contribution to African music, political expression and cultural identity. The festival also recognises the continuing relevance of his work and its influence on successive generations of musicians.
The New Afrika Shrine in Lagos, the festival’s traditional venue, has hosted numerous Nigerian music acts over the years, providing a gathering point for artists, fans and cultural enthusiasts drawn to Fela’s musical heritage.
Through its partnership with the festival, Audiomack is seeking to strengthen the connection between Fela’s pioneering work and contemporary sounds that continue to shape African music’s growing global presence.
The streaming platform said its Felabration playlist would serve as a bridge between the Afrobeat pioneer’s original recordings and modern artists carrying elements of his musical influence into a new generation.
The initiative also reflects the growing role of digital music platforms in promoting African musical heritage while creating new ways for audiences to engage with artists, festivals and cultural experiences.
