Nollywood actress Chita Agwu has announced a new chapter in her life following the legal dissolution of her 11-year marriage to Johnson Maduabuchi, urging the public to respect the privacy of both parties as they move forward separately.

Agwu made the announcement in a statement shared on her Instagram page on Monday, confirming that a court had formally dissolved the union.

“After much thought and a journey that has been deeply personal, I wish to officially inform the public that my marriage has been legally dissolved by the court,” she stated.

Describing the development as the end of a significant chapter in her life, the actress said she was ready to embrace a fresh beginning with peace, grace and dignity.

She acknowledged that not every marriage ends as anticipated, emphasising the need to allow individuals to move on without being subjected to public judgment, ridicule or humiliation.

According to her, the end of a marriage should not become an excuse for public scrutiny or the disclosure of sensitive personal matters.

“Out of respect for everyone involved, I will not be sharing private details or engaging in public discussions about the circumstances surrounding my divorce,” she said.

The actress also appealed to members of the public to respect her privacy and that of her former partner, indicating that she would not be discussing the circumstances surrounding the separation.

Expressing appreciation to those who have supported her through the years, Agwu said she was focused on healing, personal growth and the opportunities that lie ahead.

In a message reflecting her determination to move forward, she declared: “My marriage has ended, but my life continues. I move forward with my head held high, my dignity intact, and my heart open to the future.”

The announcement brings an end to the couple’s 11-year marriage, with Agwu signalling her intention to approach the next phase of her life with composure and optimism.

While she has chosen not to disclose further details about the divorce, her statement underscores her appeal for privacy and her resolve to begin again without public controversy.
