The Nigerian beauty company introduces four fragrance-inspired body creams at Beauty in the Motherland ’26, giving consumers a choice of scents while prioritising moisturised, smooth skin.
For many beauty enthusiasts, the search for an ideal body cream goes beyond keeping the skin soft and moisturised. Fragrance also plays an important role, often requiring consumers to combine their favourite body lotion with a separate perfume to achieve the desired effect. Nigerian beauty and personal care company Imperio Cosmetics is seeking to bridge that gap with its Lasgidi Smoothing Creams, a new collection designed to combine everyday skin care with appealing fragrance profiles.
The range made its public debut at Beauty in the Motherland ’26, held at the Eko Hotels Convention Centre in Lagos from October 5 to 7. Imperio Cosmetics, which participated as a sponsor and exhibitor, used the three-day event to showcase its established products, introduce new additions to its portfolio and engage directly with beauty consumers.
The Lasgidi Smoothing Creams collection comprises four variants, each distinguished by its fragrance composition and character. The selection caters to different scent preferences, from fruity sweetness to citrus-floral freshness and warm, creamy notes.
Sweet Skin Sorbet features watermelon, pear, vanilla, marshmallow and caramel, creating a fruity and sweet fragrance profile. Tartelicious combines lemon, orange and grapefruit with vanilla, watermelon, dahlia flowers and rose notes for a citrusy, floral character.
For consumers drawn to warmer fragrances, Velvet Pistachio brings together pistachio, bergamot orange, vanilla, caramel, jasmine and sandalwood. Whipped Gelato, meanwhile, blends lemon, orange, grapefruit, watermelon, dahlia flowers, pistachio, caramel and vanilla, offering a bright opening complemented by a creamy finish.
The collection’s introduction reflects an approach to body care that considers fragrance an important part of the consumer experience, alongside the familiar benefits of moisturisation and a pleasant skin feel.
Roseline Abaraonye, Marketing Director, Imperio International Limited, described the exhibition as an important opportunity to strengthen the company’s relationship with its customers.
“Beauty in the Motherland, one of Africa’s biggest beauty events, gave us the perfect platform to bring Imperio Cosmetics closer to our consumers,” she said.
Abaraonye explained that the company used the occasion to showcase popular products while unveiling new additions, including Lasgidi Smoothing Creams, TAG 3X Deodorant and the Genie Araman Perfume Collection.
“Consumers shopped, discovered new favourites and won exciting prizes, making it a vibrant celebration of beauty and the Imperio experience,” she added.
Imperio maintained its exhibition stand at 5B10 in Hall 5 throughout the event, opening from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. Visitors explored the company’s wider product range, interacted with brand representatives and met influencers, including Oma Jay, Fa’izah, Temilade, Stanley and Feekunmi.
Hannat A. Mogaji, Digital Account Manager, Imperio International Limited, said the event provided an opportunity to celebrate African beauty culture and showcase the appeal of locally developed brands.
“The motherland is known for its rich beauty culture and love for homegrown brands, and Beauty in the Motherland left nothing to the imagination,” she said.
According to Mogaji, visitors experienced some of Imperio’s established favourites, discovered the new Lasgidi Smoothing Body Creams and Oud Crush Body Mist, and participated in activities designed to make the brand experience more interactive.
She also highlighted the Hair Harmony experience, which offered scalp massages, quick hairstyling and wig revamping. Mogaji said the company planned to continue engaging consumers at the Lagos Trade Fair and Beauty West Africa in November.
The exhibition also provided a platform for Imperio to introduce its TAG 3X Roll-On and Araman perfume to a wider offline audience.
Onyemachi Samuel, Digital & Account Manager, Imperio International Limited, said the event was about more than displaying products; it was an opportunity to build meaningful connections with consumers.
“Beauty in the Motherland felt like the perfect place for us to show up, connect, and celebrate beauty with our people,” Samuel said.
“As one of Africa’s biggest beauty exhibitions, it gave us the opportunity to introduce our new TAG 3X Roll-On and Araman perfume to a wider offline audience, while giving our existing products the presence they deserve.”
Samuel added that the company viewed the exhibition as an opportunity to connect with the people driving the beauty industry in Nigeria and across the continent.
Beyond the Lasgidi launch, Hair Harmony attracted attention through a hands-on haircare experience that allowed visitors to explore its products and services. Esther Ahamba, Brand & Growth Manager, Imperio International Limited, said the activation brought professional haircare services directly to consumers.
“The Hair Harmony experience brought professional haircare to life with a trichologist and an expert stylist on ground to analyse and meet consumers’ hair needs,” she said.
Visitors had their wigs refreshed using the Hair Harmony Leave-in Conditioner and Hair Mist, while the stylist offered personalised services, including styling, restyling and hair massages. The activities gave consumers an opportunity to experience the products in a practical setting rather than simply learning about them through promotional materials.
Ahamba said the aim was to create an environment where customers could directly experience the brand’s approach to haircare and discover services suited to their needs.
Following the exhibition, Imperio has extended the Lasgidi campaign into the digital space through “Glow with Lasgidi”. The initiative features content creators sharing their first impressions of the smoothing creams and inviting online audiences to join the conversation.
Mogaji is spearheading the campaign across X and Lasgidi’s other digital channels, where consumers are being encouraged to identify the factors that influence their body-care choices, including fragrance, moisturisation, skin feel and price.
The campaign also asks consumers which of the four Lasgidi variants they would most like to try, placing individual fragrance preferences at the centre of the conversation.
With profiles ranging from fruity and sweet to citrusy, floral, warm and creamy, the collection offers consumers different scent directions within a single product category. The broader proposition is straightforward: body care can combine the practical goal of keeping skin moisturised with the pleasure of wearing a fragrance that suits one's personality and preference.
Imperio Cosmetics is a Nigerian beauty and personal care company with a portfolio that includes Hair Harmony, Lasgidi, Baby Safe, TAG Deodorant, Genie Perfumes, Nurture and Fragrance. Through its latest product introductions and consumer-focused activations, the company is seeking to deepen engagement with Nigeria’s beauty market while expanding awareness of its brands and offerings.
