In what marks its most sweeping product shake-up in recent years, MultiChoice Group, now operating under Canal+, is set to revamp its DStv and GOtv bouquets starting 5 November 2026.
The overhaul reconfigures the platform's long-standing tiers into streamlined tiers aimed at modern viewing habits, introducing dedicated football offerings and bringing previously restricted premium channels down to entry-level price brackets.
Under the forthcoming framework, DStv subscribers will navigate four primary tiers: Starter, Select, Sports, and Premium. Meanwhile, sister terrestrial service GOtv will offer Easy, Starter, Select, and Sports. The revamp addresses persistent subscriber demands for more flexible, cost-effective options, notably separating dedicated sports programming from high-tier general entertainment bundles.
“Our focus is on giving subscribers better value and access to the entertainment they love,” said Kemi Omotosho, CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria, addressing media representatives at a press briefing.
“The strength of our platform is the combination of African entertainment, leading international content and unrivalled live sports in one place. We’ve reimagined our packages to better reflect how customers watch today, with tailored options specifically for general entertainment and sports fans,” she added.
The Revised DStv Line-Up and Pricing
The operator’s entry tier, Starter, will retail at 6,000 Naira per month. Positioned as a low-cost gateway, it debuts two custom channels: Africa Magic+, bundling flagship domestic and global drama, and SuperSport KICKOFF, which will broadcast the Premier League Match of the Week alongside curated UEFA Champions League fixtures.
At 11,000 Naira, the mid-tier Select bundle targets family viewing. It incorporates the complete roster of children's programming, standard movie channels, serial dramas, and selected live sporting events.
To address sports enthusiasts who previously had to purchase top-tier packages exclusively for live matches, MultiChoice has created the Sports bouquet at 21,000 Naira. Tailored primarily for football followers, the tier includes every live Premier League and UEFA Champions League fixture, alongside WWE and UFC broadcasts, while retaining all general entertainment channels found on the Select tier. The flagship Premium package retains its position at the top of the ladder. In addition to the entire Sports catalogue, it holds exclusive carriage rights for non-football marquee properties—including Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis Grand Slams, and golf majors—alongside M-Net’s flagship international drama slates.
MultiChoice also confirmed a broader refresh of its film catalogue across tiers with the introduction of M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars, and M-Net Legends, intended to speed up the window for blockbuster releases and reduce broadcast repeats.
DStv Subscription Prices Across African Markets
MultiChoice has announced revised DStv subscription prices across selected African markets, with the new rates introducing significant reductions in some countries, particularly Kenya and Ghana.
The adjustments affect subscribers in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria, with monthly fees varying according to package options and local currencies.
In Ghana, the four subscription packages will cost GH¢50, GH¢100, GH¢250 and GH¢570 per month. The revised rates follow discussions between the government and MultiChoice over concerns about subscription affordability.
In Kenya, the Starter package will cost KES750 monthly, while Select will be priced at KES1,500 and Sports at KES3,000. The Ultimate package will cost KES7,300, down from KES11,700 for the previous highest-tier offering.
In Uganda, subscribers will pay Shs25,000, Shs60,000, Shs100,000 and Shs185,000 monthly across the four packages.
For Nigeria, the revised monthly rates are N6,000 for DStv Starter, N11,000 for Select, N21,000 for Sports and N44,500 for Premium.
The changes reflect differing pricing structures across the four markets, with the reductions in Ghana and Kenya particularly notable amid concerns over the cost of pay television services.
Subscribers are advised to confirm the applicable rates and effective dates through official DStv channels in their respective countries.
