The packaging change across selected regions has sparked consumer curiosity, with the beverage maker confirming that the bright yellow caps are genuine and part of a temporary campaign.

Seven-Up Bottling Company (SBC) has introduced distinctive yellow caps on selected bottles of some of its popular beverages, including Pepsi, Mirinda, 7UP, Teem and Supa Komando, sparking curiosity among consumers as the company builds anticipation for an upcoming initiative.

The beverage manufacturer confirmed that the brightly coloured caps are genuine and form part of a temporary packaging change being rolled out in selected regions. However, the company has yet to disclose the nature of the initiative or provide details of when the campaign will be fully unveiled.

The unusual packaging first attracted attention after consumers spotted the yellow-capped bottles in retail outlets, prompting speculation about the reason behind the change. The development has since generated conversations around the drinks and what the company may be preparing to announce.

SBC further fuelled the anticipation through a post on its official Instagram page, which read: “something exciting is coming to you.”

The message offered little detail about the planned initiative but reinforced expectations that the packaging change was connected to a forthcoming consumer-focused campaign.

Teaser campaigns are a common marketing strategy in which brands release carefully selected hints about an upcoming product, promotion or announcement without immediately revealing the full details. By generating curiosity ahead of an official launch, companies seek to encourage consumer engagement and sustain public interest.

In SBC’s case, the yellow caps have become the most visible element of the campaign so far, drawing attention to familiar beverage brands through a simple but noticeable packaging variation.

The development has also attracted positive reactions from social media users, some of whom expressed excitement about the prospect of an announcement. One commenter described the drink as a favourite, while another encouraged the company to proceed with the anticipated reveal.

Despite the growing interest, SBC has not confirmed whether the initiative will involve a promotional offer, a consumer reward scheme or another marketing activity. Further details are expected in an official announcement.

The campaign comes as beverage companies continue to explore ways of strengthening consumer engagement and maintaining brand visibility in Nigeria’s competitive non-alcoholic drinks market.

SBC is one of the country’s prominent soft drinks manufacturers, with a portfolio that includes Pepsi, 7UP, Mirinda, Teem, Supa Komando and Mountain Dew. The company also produces and distributes Lipton Iced Tea and Aquafina bottled water.

In 2021, SBC refreshed its corporate identity as part of its stated ambition to become the biggest consumer goods company in Africa, signalling its broader growth aspirations.

For now, the yellow-capped bottles remain a teaser rather than a full product announcement, with consumers awaiting clarification on what the company has planned. Until SBC releases further information, the purpose of the temporary packaging change remains undisclosed.
