Africa’s premier electronic music festival returns to Cape Town and Johannesburg for its 12th edition.

ULTRA South Africa has announced that general public ticket sales are now open for its 12th edition, following the sell-out of its early-bird “Afterglow” loyalty tickets. The festival will return to The Ostrich in Cape Town on Friday, April 30, 2027, before heading to the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg on Saturday, May 1, 2027.

As part of the ULTRA Worldwide family, ULTRA South Africa has established itself as a major fixture on the African electronic music calendar, bringing together international artists, leading local talent, and fans from across the region. The 2027 edition will once again deliver the festival’s signature combination of world-class electronic music, large-scale production, and diverse stage programming across both cities.

The festival will feature a two-stage experience in Cape Town and a four-stage experience in Johannesburg, with programming spanning the full spectrum of electronic music.

The Main Stage will deliver performances from internationally renowned electronic music artists, alongside the large-scale production and visual elements synonymous with ULTRA Worldwide. The RESISTANCE stage will showcase underground house and techno, featuring sounds from the global electronic underground.

In Johannesburg, The Groove Room will return as a platform celebrating African electronic music and local talent, with programming spanning Afro-house, Amapiano, 3-Step, Gqom, and Afro-tech. The UMF Radio Stage will also showcase emerging artists and regional talent, highlighting the next generation of electronic music.

“The rapid sell-out of our early loyalty tickets is testament to just how deeply connected this festival is to South African dance culture,” said Shaun Duwe, Festival Director of ULTRA South Africa. “This generation doesn’t wait to be told what’s cool - they create culture, dictate the sound, and demand international-calibre experiences. Our 12th edition will bring together 40,000 music lovers for an extraordinary celebration of world-class production, international headliners, and the African pioneers helping shape the future of electronic music.”

Beyond the festival itself, ULTRA South Africa is projected to contribute R500 million to the local economy and support more than 4,000 jobs across tourism, hospitality, and live entertainment logistics.

Following the sell-out of the Afterglow loyalty tickets, ULTRA South Africa will release the Official 2026 Aftermovie tomorrow via ULTRA Worldwide’s official YouTube channel, UMF TV, giving fans the opportunity to relive highlights from the festival’s most recent edition.
