An Air India flight en route from Phuket, Thailand, to New Delhi, India, was forced to make an emergency landing on Friday following a bomb threat discovered mid-flight, according to airport authorities in Phuket.

Flight AI 379, carrying 156 passengers, had departed from the popular Thai resort island and was cruising toward its destination when the pilot alerted air traffic control to a possible security threat on board. According to Monchai Tanode, the general manager of Phuket International Airport, the crew had discovered a handwritten note suggesting the presence of a bomb inside the aircraft's lavatory.

In response, the pilot promptly requested an emergency landing, triggering the airport’s emergency response protocols. Phuket International Airport activated its contingency plan, ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew members.

The aircraft landed safely at Phuket Airport, and all passengers were immediately disembarked. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams were deployed to conduct a comprehensive search of the plane for any potential explosives or suspicious materials. As of the latest updates, no injuries have been reported, and the search operation is ongoing.

Airport authorities, along with security agencies, are continuing investigations to determine the credibility of the threat and identify those responsible for placing the note. While bomb threats aboard commercial aircraft are rare, incidents of this nature are treated with utmost seriousness due to the potential risk to human lives.

Passengers have been offered assistance while alternative travel arrangements are being considered. The airline and airport officials have yet to confirm when the aircraft will be cleared for future operations.
