    GET UNDERSTANDING!

    ...It Comes By Revelation
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may... (Ephesians 1: 17-18)
Observe the content of Paul’s prayer for the Ephesian saints inverse 18: “The eye of your understanding being elinghtened.” This is an operation of the Spirit of understanding. He’s the one who helps you understand the hope to which you’ve been called by God and the wealth of His glorious inheritance in you.
Paul also prayed for them in Ephesians 3:18-19 that they “May be able to Comprehend (that is, understand) with all the saints what is the breadth, and lenghth, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeeth knowledge...”
This prayer of Paul the apostle for the Ephesian Christians to understand and know together with all saints the breadth, and length, and depth, and height of the love of Christ was necessary because they had not yet understood or known the depth and power of the love of Christ. They didn’t have the spirit of Knowledge.
Today, there are those who may have the gifts of the spirit in manifestation but lack understanding of the word. Such folk need to pray that they will be filled with spirit of understanding so they can understand together with other saints the power of Christ’s love for them and in them.
The anointing of the spirit comes on us as different times and in different ways, but we need to understand the spirit’s purpose. Anybody can study the bible, however only when you’re anointed can you understand God’s word and receive revelations of spirit. The anoiting of the word. Such an anointing comes from the spirit of understanding.
John the apostle writes “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:” (John 20:21-22).
Jesus was talking to His disciples and He breathed on them. The word transslated “breathed” here is “emphusao” which also means “to blow at or on”. So Jesus blew on them and said unto them “Receive ye the Holy Ghost!”
I want you to know this was not the same occasion as when the Holy Ghost came to dwell in them, because we read later in Acts 2:1-4 that the same disciples on the day of Pentecost, were all together in one place, in one accord, and they were all filled with Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues.
John’s record of the event in John 20:22 helps give an explanation to the account of Luke in Luke 24:45 “ Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scripture,”
John lets us know how Jesus opened their hearts and imparted understanding to them. Understand that the synoptic gospels are Matthew, Marks and Luke. John’s Gosple was written long after these first three and the reason he wrote it was to clarify what many regard as the dark areas in the synoptic gospels.
So we get the clearest picture of what happened when we put John 20:22 and Luke 24:45 together. We see that when Jesus blew on His disciples and said to them, “Receive ye the Holy Ghost,” He actually imparted the spirit of Understanding to them and their minds were anointed to understand the spcriptures.
Solomom said “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7). You’ll see why understanding is so important when you read the paprable of the sower in Mark chapter 4:
“Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up... The sower soweth the word. And these are they by the way side, where the old is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts (Mark 4:3-4, 14-15)
While explaining this parable to His disciples Jesus revealed to them that the seeds that fell by the wayside represented those who heard the word of God and didn’t understand it, and because they didn’t understand it, the devil came immediately and stole the word from their hearts.
“When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catched away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side”
The first time I read this scipture, I was amazed that Satan could steal the Word of God, but he did- from the hearts of those who didn’t understand. God’s word is the only thing the devil seeks to take away from you, becuase every other thing in life stems from the word. The devil comes around immediately the word comes to you, and the purpose of his coming is to steal the word from your heart. When you hear the word of the kingdom and neglect to understand it, you’re giving room to the devil to steal it from your heart. This is why you ought to have the spirit of understanding at work in your life. He’s the one who helps you undestand the word of God that comes to you.
“For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to youward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)” Ephesians 3:1-4).
Paul explains here that God made the mystery of Christ known to him by revelation. The word “know” is translated from the Greek word “gnorizo,” which mean “to give to understanding of the mystery of Christ.
This presupposes that you cannot receive the understaing of a (spiritual mystery by intellectual knowledge – not from school anywhere else in the world. I comes by the revelation of the Holy spirit.
Now, don’t let anybody lie to you that you’re not supposed yo understand becuase the ordained minister is the only one gifted for that. That was what they said in the dark ages. They said only the pope and the priests could understand the scriptures, and they kept God’s people in darkness for hundreds of years. The teacher may be anointed to teach the word, but he’s not more anointed to understand it that you are. So let no one keep you in bondage: it’s been given to you to understand the mysteries of the Kingdom. That’s what Jesus said!
Jesus always had a multitude gathered to listen to Him, but not all of the multitude were His disciples. So He would often speak to the multitude in parables. On one occasion, he had just told them the parable of the sower and none of them understood it, including the twelve apostles.
When He was away from the crowd, His disciples came to Him and asked, “Why speakest thou unto them inparables: “Because it is given unto you to know the mystereis of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given” (Matthew 13:11).
This is marvellous. Even though the disciples didn’t understand the parable at the time, Jesus said it was given to them to understand. The ability to understand it was theirs, they just didn’know it.
If you’re a child of God, you have understanding of the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus said so and you ought to be glad about it!
You say, “Well, I’ve been reading the Bible and I couldn’t understand anything” or “I went to Church and listed what the preacher was saying”. Stop talking that way! Talk in agreement with Jesus. He said it is given to you to know the mysterries of the kingdom of Heaven; that’s inheritance.
That you didn’t understand something doesn’t mean it wasn’t given to you to understand. There are times you don’t understand certain things the first time you hear them, but you’ve been given the ability to understand them all the same. If you didn’t seem to “catch” it the first time, what you should do is study some more. Get the tapes and books; listen to and read it again and again, and through the power of the spirit of understanding, you’ll get understand the truths.
So don’t say you don’t understand the word that comes to you; it’s been given to you understand the things of the Kingdom
“For this peoples heart is waxed gross and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ear, and should understand with heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them”
    (Matthew 13:15)
These are the words of Jesus, and if anybody knew the truth, Jesus did, for He is Himself Truth. Here, Jesus lets us into a simple, but profound principle of God’s word: If you ever see hear and understand the word of God, you’ll be converted.

To be “converted” in this context means to have your situation turned around for good. In other words, you’ll not have to put in any other effort to effect a change. Just hear the word, see it, understand it , and it will automatically turn your situation around and change things in your life.
If you’re in the Kingdom of God and have been born of His spirit, then you’ve already been given an understanding heart. You’re not trying to get it, nor are you praying for it. It’s your present hour possession. I belongs to you now!
The spirit of understanding is at work in you. All you have to do now is recognize His presence in your life and He wil reveal to you the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. Then you can have things change in your life and turn situations around in your favour.
