Latest information
coming from telecoms giant, Etisalat is suggesting that hope is not lost on the
sudden porting of popular comic actor, Hafiz Oyetoro better known as Saka, from
Etisalat to MTN few months ago. Hafiz used to be an advert model for Etisalat
before switching to MTN for their latest advert on Mobile Number Portability
(MNP).
This is because
Etisalat has vowed to reclaim their 'lost sheep' from their rival network
within 90 days. This latest information was made known at an event last week in
Lagos by the Chief Executive Officer of Etisalat, Steve Evans.
Speaking at a
media Roundtable on Mobile Number Portability (MNP), Evans admitted that there
was a mistake somewhere, which everyone is bound to make.
“We all make
mistakes in life,” the top staff of the telecoms network service provider
disclosed. He further said that he hopes Saka realizes his mistakes and port
back at the end of the 90 days grace period given by the Nigerian
Communications Commission (NCC) for subscribers to port back to his or her
original network.
Evans stated that
Etisalat has expanded its network to accommodate more than 30 million
subscribers, and double its present capacity.
He noted that more
subscribers have joined their network since the MNP started in April 2013. The
MNP is a platform where subscribers have the privilege to switch network and
still retain their numbers. A subscriber has 90 days grace to effect another
switch. The MNP has been embraced by many mobile phone users and it has brought
about improved services by the telecoms operators in Nigeria.
