About 114 victims have been hospitalised with many residents of the affected community fleeing the village in drove to escape the spread of the dreaded virus.

Two more people have died on Friday from the cholera according to the Sole administrator of Quan-Pan Local Government Area Mrs. Vou Dido. Nine people have earlier been confirmed dead from the cholera outbreak by the Plateau State Epidemiologist, Dr Raymond Yuryit.

The victims were among the over 7,000 refugees fleeing from communal crisis in Nasarawa State. Malam Zekeri Shagari who fled to Jos with his family to escape the virus said the disease has killed more than 15 people since it broke out last weekend. Shagari said:
“It has been one week now and each day the disease spreads, more people are being affected daily and I have to run with my family before the worst happen.” The Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Emergency agency, Mr. Alhassan Barde, also confirmed the rise in death toll, but said government was on top of the situation which he said was why the casualties has been minimal.
