Lafarge Africa Educates Market Women on Waste Disposal

Lafarge Africa Plc has urged market women in Lagos to properly dispose their waste, especially plastics.

The Director of Communication, Public Affairs and Sustainable Development, Lafarge Africa, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medebem, gave the advice at an awareness session to mark this year’s World Environment Day.
“As individuals, we can contribute our quota to beating the plastic pollution by re-using our plastics rather than dumping them on the streets or throwing them out of the windows of our cars as we often do. If you cannot re-use, dispose your plastics properly,” she said.

Ambrose-Medebem also called on Lagosians to make individual commitments to properly dispose plastics and recycle them.
According to her, Lafarge Africa Plc is willing to contribute its quota by way of co-processing of plastic waste for the common good.
Lafarge Africa Plc’s Environment Manager, John Nya, said 3.6 per cent of the 500 billion tonnes of plastic bags consumed in the world ended up in the oceans, and called for more efforts to reduce the number.

The Iyaloja General, Lagos Island East, Alhaja Latifat Ojikutu, and the Vice Iyaloja, Lagos Island West, Alhaja Mojisola Daniel, both urged all the market men and women present at the event to take the message of proper plastic disposal to their colleagues in the markets and at home.
