Through Cowbellpedia, a platform to showcase and reward excellence in the subject area of Mathematics, to awaken the consciousness and interest in mathematics amongst Junior and Senior secondary school students, improve their performance in Mathematics Pan Nigeria.

Cowbellpedia Secondary Schools Mathematics TV Quiz Show, a Nigerian national mathematics television quiz which debuted in 2015, showcases young mathematical minds in Nigeria on cable TV Africa Magic Family channel 154. The initiative began in 1998 as Cowbell National Secondary School Mathematics Competition (NASSMAC) when it was a written examination without a TV show.
In 2015, the initiative took a new dimension when it was split into two stages. The Stage One is the Qualifying Examination (written exam in designated centres across the country) and the Stage two is the TV quiz competition.

The Cowbellpedia initiatives have triggered the interest of students in Mathematics at the secondary school level and further reinforced the importance of the subject in the growth of modern economies.
The 2019 Cowbellpedia Secondary Schools Mathematics TV Quiz Show is open to students in JSS 3 and SSS2 from age 10 to 18 in both public and private schools across Nigeria and entry into the competition is free.

As part of the brand’s deliberate effort in encouraging Girl Child interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) courses, the Managing Director, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Anders Einarsson in his speech appeals to mixed secondary schools to nominate minimum of two female students for each category. Research has shown that a positive relationship exists between girl child education and the GDP of a nation.
He immensely acknowledges the support of the brand’s valuable partners – the National Examinations Council (NECO), state Ministries of Education, school principals and teachers, parents and the media for their invaluable contributions, which have culminated in the success of this initiative in the past two decades.
“I am also assuring you that Promasidor Nigeria will continue to encourage young Nigerians to pursue their dreams. Besides Cowbellpedia, Harness Your Dream, a career awareness workshop for public secondary schools, is another platform through which we are shaping the lives of our future leaders.
Let the search for the next inventor begin. Welcome to the 2019 Cowbellpedia Secondary School Mathematics TV Quiz Show”, he said

Over the years, this sponsored platform for both Junior and Senior Secondary categories have evolved from the humble beginning of Lagos state only examination to a nationwide examination that has received the support of the Federal Ministry of Education.
In 2016, the company took a strategic decision to bring all Mathematics intervention activities by your favorite brand, Cowbell-Our Milk under one umbrella, COWBELLPEDIA, which is a propriety asset of Promasidor and trademarked.
This competition sees six students selected randomly from the Top 54 (per category) compete in an episode where two students qualify and four of them are eliminated in two difficult rounds with three increasingly difficult levels. The overall winners of the competition in the two categories each receive the award of the Next Future Inventor (Junior Category and Senior Category).

A season of the show is made up of sixteen episodes in which there is a special episode dedicated to the teachers where the best teacher of the year emerges.
The competition begins with the Stage One qualifying examination across all the states of Nigeria. The results are usually announced on 1st June. The best students make up the Top 15 in the country, plus a representative from each state including the FCT, making it a total of 54. These students are referred to as the Top 54. In recent years, students usually tie in the Top 54. The ties are broken at Lagos, through administration of a Pre-Qualifying Test.
When the Top 54 are determined (in each category, making a total of 108), the students are shuffled into groups of 6, to make a total of 9 groups.

The students then proceed to the Stage Two, the TV quiz show. In each episode, 6 junior students compete to bring out two semi finalists. The same goes for the senior category.
