Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday night confirmed 490 new cases of coronavirus infections in the country. The new discoveries bring the number of people infected by the virus to 17,148

The health agency also noted that a total of 5,623 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, the country has recorded 31 deaths, the highest death toll in a single day, as a result,  the death toll climbed to 455.

NCDC in a tweet on Tuesday night said the new cases were reported in 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Lagos State remains the epicentre of COVID-19 in Nigeria and also reported the highest daily figure of infections on Tuesday followed by FCT and Bayelsa with 142, 60 and 54 cases respectively.

Other states with new cases as follows: Rivers-39, Delta-37, Oyo-30, Kaduna-26, Imo-23, Enugu-19, Kwara-17, Gombe-11, Ondo-10, Bauchi-8, Ogun-7, Borno-6 and Benue-1.

Nigeria has tested 96,402 persons since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on 27 February 2020.

As of the time of reporting, 35 states and the FCT have recorded at least a case of the disease. Only one state, Cross River, is yet to report any case of the virus.

No new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
Till date, 17148 cases have been confirmed, 5623 cases have been discharged and 455 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The novel coronavirus has infected more than 8,229,998 people around the world and killed at least 444,513, while over 4,289,155 patients have recovered from the virus, since the outbreak emerged in China last December.
