Lagos, the most populous city in Nigeria and the epicenter
of the virus had the highest number of infections for the day with 901 cases.
The most affected regional state in the country has
continued to record huge confirmed COVID-19 cases with its total figures rises
to 40,624 and 271 fatalities recorded.
Nigeria on Sunday recorded 1,444 new cases of the novel
coronavirus in 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The new COVID-19 update in country have raised the
nationwide tally to 110,387. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),
disclosed this via its official Twitter handle .
At least 3,950 patients were discharged from isolation
centre in the country after tested negative to the virus, while 15 death
recorded.
NCDC noted that today's discharged include 717 community recoveries in Lagos State and a backlog of 2,825 community recoveries in FCT managed in line with guidelines.
According to the daily report, Lagos, Plateau and Kaduna recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Sunday, with 901, 136 and 57 cases respectively.
Other states with new cases reported as follows: FCT-54, Ebonyi-53,
Akwa Ibom-52, Nasarawa-32, Osun-29, Ogun-28, Imo-16, Oyo-16, Edo-15, Kano-14, Rivers-10,
Ekiti-7, Borno-6, Abia-5, Benue-4, Yobe-4, Kebbi-3 and Anambra-2.
Nigeria has tested 1,154,138 persons since the first
confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced.
A report by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control,
NCDC, revealed that till date, 110,387
cases have been confirmed, 89,317 cases discharged and 1,435 deaths have been
recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
