    Nigeria Records 3 Deaths, 113 New COVID-19 Infections

    The tally of confirmed COVID-19 infections in Nigeria now 162,388 on Friday with the additional 113 new cases reported in 9 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    While the deaths toll from coronavirus (COVID-19) stand at 2,039, after the country reported 3 more deaths relating to the disease in last 24 hours.

    This makes it the third time that the country will be recording exactly 3 deaths and 113 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic outbreak. It was first reported on October 27, 2020 and later on March 26, 2021.

    However, the country also reported that 104 COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals across the nation. This pushes the number of recoveries and discharges to 149,986.

    Nigeria Centre for Disease Control disclosed this in its daily coronavirus updates via its official Twitter handle.

    According to the data released by NCDC, the breakdown of the new cases shows that, Lagos took the lead with 53 new infections, followed by Rivers with 22, Akwa Ibom and Kaduna with 12 infections each.

    The cases of the virus in Ondo increased by 6, Osun by 3, FCT by 2 and Jigawa, Nasarawa and Kano reported 1 case each.

    The total number of active COVID-19 cases in Nigeria currently stands at 10,363, health agency said on Friday.
