    Nigeria Adds 37 New COVID-19 Infections

    Nigeria continues to report fewer coronavirus cases, adding 37 new cases Tuesday. That's down from the previous day’s count of 42 cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.

    Four new COVID-19 deaths were also reported. The death toll stands at 2,071, according to the latest update by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC via it official website.

    The number of COVID-19 fresh cases continue to outnumber recoveries in the Nigeria recently, as the country reported 36 discharges, the health department said.

    The total number of active cases now stands at 7,499.

    Of the new cases which was  announced Tuesday in 5 states and the Federal Capital Territory, 29 were from Lagos, 3 were found in Akwa-Ibom, 2 in FCT, and 1 case each in Gombe, Kaduna and Kano.

    NCDC noted that today's report includes 0 cases from Ekiti, Imo, Nasarawa, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, and Sokoto States. And data from Akwa Ibom State recorded over the last three days.

    As of May 25th evening, cumulatively 166,098 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the country, which includes 2,071 deaths and 156,528 discharges.

    More than 90,590 additional tests were completed in one week. Nigeria has now conducted a total of 2,093,243 tests since the first case relating to the disease was announced last year.
