The latest data released by the health officials shows that
Nigeria’s infection toll, since the index case was recorded last year’s
February 27, has risen to 188,243 and
the country’s fatality toll from the disease now stands at 2,281.
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) disclosed this in
an update released on its website late Tuesday.
A breakdown of the data revealed that 288 of the new cases
were identified in Lagos, 188 in Rivers and 64 in Oyo.
Akwa Ibom had 31 cases, FCT had 28 cases Ekiti had 21 cases, Edo had 17 cases, Bayelsa
had 11 cases and Kaduna had 7 cases.
NCDC also said that Nasarawa, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Plateau and
Sokoto are the only 6 states with no COVID-19 cases on Tuesday
The health officials also stated that Nigeria had
successfully treated a total of 169,035 COVID-19 cases following the discharge
of 217 additional patients in the past 24 hours.
As of today, Nigeria has a total 16,927 active cases of COVID-19. Active cases further increased by 433 on Tuesday.
