    Nigeria Reports 118 New COVID-19 Infections

    Health officials in Nigeria reported a rise in COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, but weekly indicators show the spread of the infection is on the decline. 

    Nigeria confirmed additional 118 cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, while 10 people were discharged from hospitals across the country and active COVID-19 cases increased to 2,426, the health officials stated

    Data released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC showed that no patients died of coronavirus-related complications in the past 24 hours.

    The public health officials in a tweet said the new cases were recorded in two states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory

    NCDC, through its verified Twitter account, said of the new cases 68 cases were confirmed in FCT, 49 were found in Lagos and 1 case in River state.

    It noted that the 68 cases reported in FCT on 7th March 2022, 60 of the cases are returnees from Ukraine.

    And a backlog of 49 cases reported in Lagos on 7th (8), 6th (23) and 5th (18) March 2022.

    While 5 States; Delta, kano, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Sokoto reported no cases.

    With the new cases of COVID-19, Nigeria’s tally of confirmed infections since the outbreak of the disease in the country is now 254,777, as of Tuesday, 249,209 cases have been discharged and 3,142 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
