Netflix releases a new Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery trailer starring Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc. Director Rian Johnson launched a new franchise in 2019 by creating an original murder mystery movie heavily inspired by Agatha Christie.
Knives Out was a critical hit and earned over $300 million
worldwide in a surprising turn. It guaranteed that Johnson would be able to
make Knives Out 2 if he desired, with Netflix eventually obtaining the rights
to distribute the upcoming sequel and Knives Out 3. Glass Onion: A Knives Out
Mystery came together quickly after this announcement and assembled another
all-star cast around Daniel Craig.
The marketing campaign for Knives Out 2 kicked off a few
months ago when the first trailer debuted online teasing a complicated murder
mystery party hosted by Edward Norton's character. As expected for a Knives Out
movie, the game takes a deadly turn and puts Blanc in a position to
investigate.
Glass Onion's cast and murder mystery suspects include Dave
Bautista, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr, Janelle Monáe, Jessica
Henwick, and Madelyn Cline. The movie has already earned great reviews from
playing at various movie festivals earlier this year.
Now, a new Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery trailer has
been released before Rian Johnson's highly anticipated 2022 Netflix movie
debuts. The footage focuses on the murder mystery party hosted by Edward
Norton's character and how it goes awry, leading to someone being killed for
real. The new Knives Out 2 trailer arrives weeks before the movie's limited
one-week theatrical release starting on November 23. Glass Onion: A Knives Out
Mystery arrives on Netflix on December 23.
The latest Knives Out 2 trailer is further evidence that
Rian Johnson has another fun, twist-filled mystery to tell centered around
Benoit Blanc in store for audiences. The writer/director has been very open
about not wanting to repeat the same formula he used with Knives Out, which
points to how different the sequel will be, including moving Glass Onion's
story to Greece.
There are still a lot of familiar hallmarks of the first movie here, such as the great ensemble and complicated mystery that Blanc has to try and solve. But by using quotes from published reviews, the Knives Out 2 trailer also is sure to tell viewers that this new murder mystery story is even more surprising than the last.
The good news for those wanting to watch the Knives Out 2
trailer and still enjoy the experience of Blanc's detective skills at work is
that the footage does not seem to include any major plot spoilers.
There are some new revelations about various characters and
relationships, but the whodunnit story is still very much a mystery at this
point. Since Knives Out 2's title teases the multiple layers of the story and
mystery that is present in the sequel, hopefully future marketing materials do
not spoil Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery's story.
