The National Universities Commission has licensed Amadeus University, Amizi, Abia State to operate as a private university.
A statement by the university stated that a development
economist and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Grooming Centre, Dr Godwin
Nwabunka, founded Amadeus University.
Nwabunka remarked, “The establishment of Amadeus University
is a testament to our commitment to building capacity, providing opportunities
as we do at Grooming Centre, and promoting entrepreneurship to reap the
dividends of Nigeria’s young demographic. Our university will provide a
distinct educational experience while fostering innovation, research, and
sustainable outcomes.”
He added that the university’s faculties and departments
will cover various fields of study.
“Amadeus University is set to embark on its mission to
deliver quality education with a unique focus on entrepreneurship, research,
innovation, and social impact.
The establishment of Amadeus University is a response to the
growing need for expanded access to higher education in the country.”
Chairman, Planning and Implementation Committee, Prof.
Akaneren Essien, said, “Education is a powerful tool for empowerment and
positive change. Through Amadeus University, we aspire to produce globally
competitive graduates who will drive socioeconomic development with meaningful
results.
He said the university looked forward to welcoming its first
set of students, adding that it would make a lasting impact in the field of
tertiary education.
Essien told the prospective students and parents to visit
the university site.
