    Hurry, Apply for Maltina Teacher of the Year Before August 4 Deadline


    In a bid to accommodate more participants and honor the invaluable contributions of teachers, Nigerian Breweries Plc, the leading brewing company in Nigeria, has announced an extension for the submission of entries for the prestigious 2023 Maltina Teacher of the Year competition. Originally set to conclude on July 21, 2023, the deadline has been prolonged by two weeks, and teachers now have until August 4, 2023, to submit their entries.

    The Corporate Affairs Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mrs. Sade Morgan, shared that the decision to extend the deadline was made in response to numerous requests from teachers who sought additional time to apply and present their entries for the competition. She emphasized that the Maltina Teacher of the Year competition’s ninth edition is open to all secondary school teachers in both public and private schools across Nigeria, making it an inclusive and impactful initiative aimed at uplifting the education sector.

    Eligible teachers interested in participating can complete the forms online by visiting the dedicated website (www.maltinateacheroftheyear.com). Alternatively, they may download the forms, fill them out, and submit them via email to maltinateacheroftheyear@heineken.com.

    The competition’s top-performing teacher will be honored with a trophy, a generous cash prize of N6.5 million, and receive capacity development training. Furthermore, the winner’s school will be rewarded with either a block of classrooms or a computer laboratory, contributing to the overall improvement of the education infrastructure.

    Mrs. Morgan reiterated Nigerian Breweries Plc’s commitment to acknowledging and rewarding the exceptional performance of teachers, ensuring they receive the recognition they deserve. The first runner-up will receive a trophy and a cash prize of N1,500,000, while the second runner-up will be awarded a trophy and a total sum of N1,250,000. Additionally, all state champions will be presented with plaques and a cash prize of N500,000 each, encouraging outstanding educators from across the nation.

    The Maltina Teacher of the Year competition was founded in 2015 and has been supported by the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund since then. The Trust Fund was established in 1994 to actively contribute to the development of Nigeria’s education sector in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal, SDG No.4.

    Throughout its history, the Maltina Teacher of the Year competition has celebrated the excellence of educators, with past grand winners including names like Rose Nkemdilim Obi (Anambra, 2015), Imoh Essien (Akwa Ibom, 2016), Felix Ariguzo (Delta State, 2017), Olasunkanmi Opeifa (FCT, 2018), Ezem Collins (FCT, 2019), Oluwabunmi Anani (Adamawa State, 2020), Abanika Taiye (Delta, 2021), and Alaku Ayiwulu (Plateau State, 2022).
