Sporting Lagos, who just won promotion from the Nigeria
National League (NNL) to the Nigeria Professional Football League, are
represented by goalkeeper Christian Nwoke, left-back Chiemeka Nwokeji, centre
back Aliu Salawudeen, midfielder Emmanuel Odafi and striker Joseph Alukwu in
the team named by the Naija Super 8 technical committee of domestic football
experts.
Lobi Stars, Akwa United and Remo Stars filled the other
slots with two each. Named are midfielder Stephen Eneji and left-sided forward,
Atule Joseph of Lobi Stars. Wisdom Ifiok Ndon, a central defender, and Cyril
Olisema, an attacking midfielder, represent Akwa United in the all-star
line-up. Remo Stars’ Sodiq Ismaila, a right full-back, and centre forward Isaac
James complete the selection.
Each member of the team of the tournament, according to
Flykite Productions, organisers of the tournament, will earn N100, 000 for
their eye-catching performances. The selection committee comprised former Super
Eagles midfielder, Friday Ekpo, Deji Omotoyinbo and Fisayo Dairo, both
prominent football journalists.
Naija Super 8 ended on Sunday with Sporting Lagos’ 4-2
defeat of Remo Stars in the final after a 1-1 draw at full time at the Mobolaji
Johnson Arena, Lagos. The final, played before a mammoth crowd, witnessed live
musical performances by Portable, Seyi Vibe and Pheelz.
The competition, organized by Flykite Productions in
partnership with MultiChoice Nigeria, was sponsored by Hero Lager, MTN, DStv,
GOtv, SuperSport, Pepsi, Moniepoint and Custodian Assurance.
