In a bid to address the challenges of poor telecoms infrastructure affecting the region’s digital economy, the West Africa Telecoms Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition (WATISE) is set to convene critical stakeholders in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
The event’s notable attendees include the Minister of
Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, as well as
key figures from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigerian
Information and Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and the Association of
Licensed Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ALTON).
The WATISE event, scheduled for October 3 to 4 at the
Oriental Hotel Lagos, aims to explore investment opportunities in the tech
sector, attracting investors from Tunisia, Egypt, and the Republic of Benin.
WATISE2023 with its theme, ‘The Future of Infrastructure,
Connectivity, and Services: A New Interdependent Ecosystem of Partners,’
promises to facilitate learning, sharing, and networking among industry
leaders.
According to the organizers the discussions at WATISE will
delve into critical telecom infrastructure topics such as Submarine Cables,
Connectivity, Security, Data Centers, Internet Exchange, and Wholesale Digital
Transformation.
“The summit will bring together over 200 global companies
across various segments, including Data/ Capacity, Submarine Cables, Content
Providers, Technology Providers, Internet Exchanges (IX), Security, Data
Centers, Cloud, and related areas.

and partnerships to expand ICT networks in Nigeria and West Africa.
